Breakfast Topic: Which Cataclysm zone are you most excited about?

All of us are anxiously awaiting Cataclysm's going live. Wrath is winding down and people are anxiously anticipating the new content. Some want new raids, some want new dungeons, some want new quests, some want to make goblins or worgen. Some of us are just really excited to see the changes to the old zones, and some just want to get right into the level 80 to 85 content.
I myself am in the beta. I have played it as it has evolved since the friends and family alpha, and I have watched some of the zones go from buggy and near unplayable, with quests not yet implemented, to being far more fleshed-out and nearly ready to go live. I love Hyjal. It has an epic feel; you are right in there battling to reclaim the zone from the Twilight Cultists and the elementals. Deepholm is equally amazing. In the revamped zones, I thoroughly enjoyed the CSI-inspired murder quest chain in Westfall. I have made both a goblin and a worgen and must say, the goblin starting area and Azshara should not be missed. Everyone should make a Horde character and complete the Azuregos and Kalecgos quests in Azshara. On the other hand, I feel Gilneas is a little overscripted and Darkshore is still a little odd.
There is a lot of the world I want to see when Cataclysm launches, but there are places I want to see more than others. Where are you most interested in exploring when Cataclysm comes out? What do you absolutely have to see, and what quests do you want to do? What particular zone excites you the most? Or are you just in it for new dungeons, raids and new shiny epics?

Barrens and Ashenvale, hands down.

I can't wait for goblins and the revamped leveling experience. I keep finding myself wishing I had higher level alts, but I can't seem to get behind the old world leveling. Hopefully I don't get too caught up in seeing the new quests and I remember to raid on my main.

Deepholme by the looks. It seems to have outland-styled with added zangramarsh. The style just has something I cannot really describe.
By the quests and lore definitely twilight highlands. Twilight hammer has been too silent for whole game since vanilla and I really love old god and some evil cult stuff going around. Chaos, destruction! Uulwi ifis halahs gag erh'ongg w'ssh!
Specially since I know that their quests must lead to great stories that are about raids we face on first tier. (think of ulduar with all hodir, freya, thorim appearing while questing).

I cant wait Vashj'ir - I dont play beta but I just love underwater stuff :)
Thalen Nov 8th 2010 9:07PM
I was really most excited about Vashj'ir as well, and I AM in the beta!
Unfortunately, bugs made the place virtually impossible to play. Underwater mobs evading (and being a hunter, that made for come pretty interesting pet-mob interaction). Even some of the sub-zones were bafflingly broken - when the mobs can't even stay *above the ground* when you're fighting them, you don't have fun.
I made it about halfway through before I hearthed and started over somewhere else.

I know it's not technically a zone, but I've been dying to experience the Maelstrom for myself. I love whirlpools and golly, that's a big'un.

I want to see the giant shark dinosaur with a laser myself!!!
Kittens Nov 8th 2010 10:34AM
Unfortunately they took that one out already on beta Sungod (I myself was a few days too late to see it :'( ), so I doubt it will go live.
SunGod228 Nov 8th 2010 10:47AM
This is bad news, the only option left may be to cancel my preorder.
Now Cataclysm won't even come close to the awesomeness of Robot Dinosaurs that Shoot Lasers when they Roooarrr!!!

Twilight Highlands, because I'm BORING and like GRASS!
I'm interested to see how much I like Vashj'ir and Deepholm. I usually don't like underwater or caved in areas - I feel too claustrophobic - but both those zones look awesome.

You like grass, eh? Wanna buy some of this?

I'm in the beta and Hyjal has been the best zone, hands down. Vashj'ir is horrible to me because of the 3D aspect of trying to find your way around all that water--I have the same issue with Deepholm. Don't know whether to fly up, down, sideways.
I absolutely loved the revamped night elf starting area. I keep telling people that Teldrasil is actually epic now--I'm not sure they believe me lol.
But when all is said and done I'm most excited about being able to level up my profs. I don't know what that says about me.
John Nov 8th 2010 9:29AM
Yeah - I am not in beta, but my guildies who are say that Vashjir looks cool & has cool lore/personalities, until you try to do quests there and it ends up being an underwater-Oculus... not good.
Hiwa Nov 8th 2010 1:03PM
That's funny because, when I was trying to describe to myself what Vashj'ir felt like, Oculus was exactly what came to mind.

Loch Modan!
Out of the new zones? ...I'm kinda excited about seeing them all. Twilight Highlands might win out only just. (I'm a sucker for Dwarven homes built into the hills)
cocoboom Nov 8th 2010 8:31AM
Gilneas and everything up until Outland when things will get boring again for 20 tedious levels
collinsm81 Nov 8th 2010 8:54AM
I love leveling LOVE IT. I have three Hunters (1 Horde, 2 Alliance), a DK, a failed SPriest (decided to wait for Goblins) and a Warlock (Mainish) and I 8still* have to hit Netherstorm, SMV, Blade's Edge, most of Borean Tundra, most of Icecrown.
cocoboom Nov 8th 2010 8:58AM
That implies you have been playing since WotLK was released. I have slogged through that content too often by now to find much enjoyment in it. This applies to Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh and Nagrand the most once Azeroth has been revamped.
thegatherer Nov 8th 2010 8:31AM
Definitely the revamped starting zones.
albanesp Nov 8th 2010 8:32AM
I might be in the minority, but I have read nothing about any of the zones, so it will all be a complete surprise to me. Looking forward to being surprised. [Note: I only read the headline of this article not the content, so I really don't even know the zones discussed :-)]
