Cryptozoic announces release date for WoW TCG Worldbreaker

Everyone loves loot cards, and this set features a marked move away from the old loot card system, with the common loot card being an in-game pet -- Landro's Lil' XT. The best part is that the common loot card will be a pet from now on, not just items with finite uses. The uncommon card in the set is a super-scary version of the Basic Campfire called the Grim Campfire, and the rare card is the flying Mottled Drake mount.
In addition to the Worldbreaker date, Cryptozoic announced that the Darkmoon Faire Los Angeles show will be happening on Dec. 4-5 and will feature a first look at the Worldbreaker set. And if our BlizzCon party was any indication, Cryptozoic will have tons of stuff on hand to show you.

WTB something with all my UDE points....
Gimme that Rhino.

I was sure to use up all of my UDE points buying tabards for my friend's alts. Sadly, now that the WoW TCG is out of UDE's hands, seems the points are now defunct.

Do people actually play this (no really, I'm curious)?

They had a few people playing at the booth they had set up at Blizzcon.
They had more people standing in line around the booth to buy packs and decks.
They also had more people standing in line to get into the "Loot Cyclone" ticket booth (but I'm not sure that was part of Cryptozoic's presence, or some other company just giving away loot cards as part of a promo).

Not nearly as many as buy the cards, it seems. So many people order big boxes of cards just to try and get a super-rare loot card for the $50 price of the cards, and then either stuff the cards underneath a table or throw them away.
I've played it, and it is fun. The Raid decks in particular are a hoot, and make for a very workable hybrid between TCGs and Tabletop RPGs.
Thing is, though, the people that buy boxes of cards and stuff don't realize that most retailers (especially online ones) order big huge palettes and crates of TCG cards, and open them up until they find the rare loot in each one. They then sell the singles and loots that they've opened individually, and the rest as boxes/packs. What this means is, people who bought boxes have a very, very small chance at getting a rare loot card, since the retailers have already taken them.

Yep they do! It is a very fun game actually. A lot like Magic but better designed due to the quest/resource system, imo. The organized play is pretty good too if you are interested in playing competitively to try and win prizes.

I want that Grim Campfire card. I really do!
balamoor Nov 9th 2010 4:22PM
Wake me when they announce the online version of this that they have been working on behind the scenes for the past two years.
Drakkenfyre Nov 9th 2010 9:50PM
I doubt very seriously they would create an online version of this.
Kind of like the Pokemon card game. There is a Game Boy version of the card game, which was based on a video game.
So for the people not keeping track, Video game -> Card game -> Video game based on that card game.
Altho I don't think the video game version of the card game went over well.

I think he means like Magic Online, not a story driven video game adaptation of WoW TCG but a system where people can log in and play WoW TCG any time they want.

So no Icecrown raid deck then?
