Insane in the Membrane no longer requires Shen'dralar reputation in Cataclysm

It's a question you've been asking us for a little while now. And, based on all the posts, emails, petitions, and letters we received following the announcement that the Insane in the Membrane achievement would no longer be in available in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, we started to wonder if maybe we had gone a bit loco.
So, we went back to the drawing board. After carefully reviewing all the feedback and discussing the matter amongst ourselves, we're now happy to report that we will be making the following changes to the Feat of Strength:
Exalted reputation with Shen'dralar will no longer be required. As this is the only reputation that will be unobtainable in Cataclysm, we've simply decided to remove it as a requirement.
For those who already earned Exalted reputation with this faction, don't worry -- we haven't forgotten about your accomplishments. In a future patch, we'll be adding in a separate Feat of Strength to recognize your deep love of Dire Maul.
Bloodsail Buccaneer faction reputation will remain in-game. Also, to ensure that this change does not negatively affect Cataclysm quest progression in Stranglethorn Vale, Booty Bay Bruisers will now provide reputation up through Exalted.
This will ensure that players will still be able to attain Insane in the Membrane and "The Insane" title in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Please note, however, that these changes will not take effect until The Shattering in patch 4.0.3a -- excluding the separate "Exalted with Shen'dralar" feat, which will be introduced in a future, but currently-undetermined patch.
And, of course, those who are already Insane in the Membrane will retain their title and current Feat of Strength. Shine on, you crazy diamonds.

lolololol, soooo glad I sold my last bunch of diamond stacks on the ah. What a slap on the face for some people. =P

It's a slap in the face if they remove The Insane. It's a slap in the face if they keep The Insane.
Internet comments make Blizzard sound like the big bad pimp of 8th street, runnin' round slappin' everybody in the face and nobody can do anything to stop him. Man, that Blizzard is one bad mother -- SHUT YO' MOUTH! Hey man, I'm just talking about Blizzard.
(Is my workday over yet?)

Yup. Everything nowadays is a http://www.wowhead.com/spell=51663/slap-in-the-face

Literally, I didn't even think of it until my jeweler was getting some gems out of the bank and I noticed 3 diamonds, just as someone in Trade was asking for them for 200.
I check the AH and see 600, so tossed them on there last night. Sold all three just before this announcement apparently!
So, yeah, I can imagine the people that spent crazy amounts getting "insane" are irritated, but at the same time, it's not like their orphans are going hungry, they had plenty of money to sink into it.

Whiners who complain about things being a "slap in the face" are a slap in the face to anyone who's actually been slapped in the face. :p

not so much a slap in the face, i just hate how nothing is unique anymore. I can almost bet as soon as zg is really gone, there will be so much stupid QQ that they will add the mounts back some how. I wish there were more anmani war bears, amazing and rare.
If everyone is special then no one is, are they?

@Gryph:
that spell is so pure of win I truly hope it's actually in-game....

Interesting question if changing the requirements are a slap in the face.
I never did this one, but I did spend six months farming the Wintersaber rep (I could not bear to spend more than 2 hrs a day on the mind numbing task, and nobody wanted to team up on the furbolg killing).
I wonder how I would feel if Blizz had changed the requirements to make it easier, say like the Horde version. I don't think it would bother me so much that the other players took advantage of the change. I do think it would bother me to see a mount I worked so hard on to get to be as common as a Sparkle Pony though.
(and yes, I know that the Wintersaber rep used to be even harder).
TL:DR, I wonder if people who earned it the old way might feel disappointed that the new way made the title cheap and no longer special.

@Larka- I dunno, I don't think Blizz caves that easily to mount QQ as you think. Though I suppose some people think the mere existence of another Qiraji battle tank counts as caving, you could say that the various bear mounts they added in Wrath were because Blizz was caving to people who wanted the Amani War Bear.
So I suppose they might make other cats or raptors available, but I don't see them making those specific mounts available.

Hm....my advice to all the folks who feels like this is a "slap in the face".
Shoulda had a V8.

My guild leader dropped close to 15k on Pristine Black Diamonds to get Exalted with Shen'dralar before Cataclysm. He is extremely angry right now.
I told him maybe Blizzard will give a special title for Shen'Dralar feat of strength.
"of the Shen'Dralar"
"Lord of Dire Maul"
"the TRULY Insane"
Something like that. ;)
Craig R Nov 10th 2010 5:14PM
more like "I had the gold to buy PBDs"
cocoboom Nov 10th 2010 5:23PM
"slappy"
Stone_Rhino Nov 10th 2010 5:34PM
Blizzard said there would be a feat of strength for being exalted with Shen'dalar.
There is no mention of a new title ANYWHERE in that blue post.
bruce Nov 10th 2010 5:49PM
I like the Pink Floyd reference. So perhaps "the Crazy Diamond" would be the perfect title for this as it would make sense for the amount of pristine black diamonds were needed.
Akhi Nov 10th 2010 5:52PM
"the Betrayed" was suggested by my husband, who farmed to his title a year ago, although he's not actually that surprised or upset about the change.
I feel the worst for people who were clearly told "if you want this, you're going to have to shell out a lot of money to get it," and actually finished it, only to immediately be told the complete opposite after the money was spent. Sometimes, imaginary Blizzard person who reads my posts on here, consistency is better than pleasing the QQers one way or another.
My heart goes out to you, people who got Insane in the Membrane this morning.
vinniedcleaner Nov 10th 2010 5:58PM
The title should be the surname 'Barrett'... the original Crazy Diamond who was very Insane in the Membrane
Zamboni Nov 10th 2010 9:42PM
"The Gullible"
tfg Nov 10th 2010 10:20PM
The truly insane are the Jazzrik farmers--god bless 'em-- and they are so, so much more dissed by this.
Amaxe Nov 10th 2010 11:07PM
Hmm I do remember the PBDs I picked up while farming Scholo for AD rep always sold well. Never had any idea why.
