I've always thought it was funny that so many players referred to the night elves as "hippies," given their history in the lore. I mean, yeah, they do seem to believe in peace and love, but that's usually their third tactic, after they've tried murder and explosions.

The thing is, though, they've mellowed a LOT since joining the Alliance. Other than a few quests in Ashenvale to kill some defenseless orc woodcutters, they pretty much remain hippy-dippy through all of Vanilla WoW and Burning Crusade (and aren't really seen in Wrath of the Lich King).I blame this primarily on Knaak, who reduced Tyrande from insane psychotic killing machine to cookie-baking housewife.

Tyrande was ready for WoW before the game even launched. "Kill something" is usually how I deal with a great deal of trials in WoW.

They're not really peace and love hippies, they're more like the people that would bomb a pharmaceutical company developing a cure for cancer because they're using animals for tests. No less stupid, just more violent.
