Troll druids get unique bat flight form

Ever since we saw the worgen druid flight form, a unique re-skin of the traditional tauren and the night elf flight form bird, speculation has run rampant about what form troll druids would take for flight -- would it be a new creature like a bat, or another unique flight form bird model? Our prayers are answered. Troll druid, here I come!

I know this meme has been driven into the ground but-
*Distracted by the creepiest fly thing ever known*
With that said, I know what race my druid is going to be. I dig the rave colors anyways.
WolfStar Nov 10th 2010 3:14PM
Race changing my Druid as soon as there available!!! So freaking awsome!!!
Ullaana Nov 10th 2010 3:16PM
Nope, more like Man-Bat!

That was supposed to be a reply to Deathknighty. Lol
Jeffro Nov 10th 2010 3:28PM
No more like Bat-Mon
xenothaulus Nov 10th 2010 3:18PM
That is ridiculously awesome. Class change coming up for my druid!

Sigh, i was considering changing one of my Tauren druids over to a Troll once cata drops but this flight form model is the deal breaker for me. Though i am happy for those who were lobbying for a bat flight form, it suits the trolls quite well, it just doesn't work for me =/

Good to know I'm not the only one. :P
I was so excited that I'd no longer have to play my clunky cow and was planning on race changing my druid to a troll the moment I could. Now though, there's not even a small chance I'd consider it. I'd rather play some clunky cow than fly as a midget troll bat.

I agree! I have to admit I laughed for a good three to five minutes after seeing it.
I now know I will never make a Troll Druid, "ugly" is not how I'd describe it, perhaps "ridiculously comical", I can't wait to see this thing fly in front of me to gather herbs, I'm going to burst out laughing every single time.
All I can see is a Troll Druid bragging to his friends "YA MON?! SO WHAT if I'm a cat wit'a mohawk!! I'm not some stupid chickenhawk like you! Dat's right, I be a BAT MON! *shapeshift* Oh by da voodoo! NO! I be stuck halfway 'trou da transformation! Dat cruel, cruel hubris gahhh!!" *riot of tauren laughter*

The sheer epicness of this hurts my eyes...

Although some people are inevitably going to complain about how trolls get a bat form while night elves, tauren, and worgen all "just get birds," it's important to note that something like this was very necessary in keeping with troll lore, particularly Darkspear troll lore. The Darkspear loathe birds, finding them "weak and capricious" as a questgiver in (I believe) Zangarmarsh once stated. It's something that stems back to their worship of the loa, as the worship of bird loa is something more typical of forest trolls like the Amani than it is of jungle trolls like the Darkspear. In fact, the Darkspear continue to revere many of the Gurubashi loa, which includes a bat loa named Hir'eek.
Giving troll druids a bat form was a very wise move on Blizzard's part in order to keep lore consistent, and frankly it's about damn time they actually started paying attention to playable troll lore! first the Echo Isles event, and now this, it looks like Cataclysm's gonna be a very, very good time for lanky, crafty, blue people.
And, yeah, the form looks gorgeous and finally puts to rest my indecisiveness about whether to roll a troll or worgen druid come Cataclysm.
Prissa Nov 10th 2010 3:23PM
Aww you said it so much better than I did, before I even said it. I'll go crawl back in my hole now.
Kylenne Nov 10th 2010 3:30PM
I'm so happy Trolls are finally getting some love. You have no idea. :D
I said it on another recent thread, watching a Darkspear turn into a bird would have made me so sad. Kudos to Blizz for paying attention!
tfwagner2001 Nov 10th 2010 4:27PM
Now Nagi is gonna want a troll in a red shirt standing next to the druid trainer. /doh
Nagi Nov 10th 2010 4:36PM
@tfwagner
Very cute, but unlike Red Shirt, I didn't just run that all off from the top of my had. I'm not that good (er, sad?), I just know how to Google like a champ. :P
Nagi Nov 10th 2010 4:38PM
@Me
Er, head. Not had. Evidently I can Google like a champ but I proofread like a scrub.
icepyro Nov 11th 2010 12:18AM
I was mostly ignorant on the lore before this, and now this begs the question....
What about Moonkin?
Prissa Nov 10th 2010 3:21PM
Jumping on the THIS IS AWESOME bandwagon, but for slightly different reasons.
The Darkspear always said that birds weren't so great and better left for the Amani. I would have been pretty mad if they backpeddled that and gave them a bird flight form. Consider me a happy lore nerd.
Revynn Nov 10th 2010 3:23PM
Le sigh . . .
It's cool, the model and skinning look awesome and are really well done. That said, I just can't imagine my one-time NElf druid main becoming a troll and suddenly looking like . . . that.
1 step forward for Trolls, 1 step backward for the chances of my beloved NElf ever reaching level cap.
It's terrible, really. I'm too attached to the toon to delete her, but being a Horde player I know she'll never get the attention I want to give her. So she sits . . . at level 44 . . . since Classic . . .
Swifteye Nov 10th 2010 4:13PM
Tauren still exist, you know. Just sayin'.
