One of the many nice things that
Cataclysm is doing for the low-level quester is finally getting rid of the level 1 to 60 "clown suit." Every 10-level range has its own specific set of matching quest rewards, giving you a unique look every handful of zones. And they don't look half bad! In fact, some of the sets look pretty darn cool. Speaking from experience, leveling from 1 to 60 in the beta was a lot more exciting, not just due to the new quests and mechanics, but also because I couldn't wait to see what my new gear would look like when I hit a new leveling milestone.

But we'll still have our infamous fuschia stretchpants and crazy hats during 60-70!
Kal Nov 11th 2010 4:10PM
Well duh, what else did people where in the 60's?
Lucidique Nov 11th 2010 4:43PM
I'd say ugly as a roadkill moose gearing in Outland is an integral part of leveling in Outland.
I for one wouldn't want to level without it, it's part of the charm :)

My female human lock went from 60-70 in a bustier and thong. Fortunately, in Northrend, she got some pants.

Clownsuits in the old world were never quite as bad as the ones you get in Outland.
some of that gear is just ridiculous.

My only problem is that these sets aren't really that iconic or eyecatching (say what you like about the clown suits but they certainly grab the eye), but I guess they are just quest rewards. It would be nice if dungeons in a level ranged dropped a "dungeon" set of the various armor classes. I remember having a full set of SM gear at 35-45 which was extremely pimp. And it's not as if there aren't resources to make nice sets of matching armor, I've done as much by collecting green items.
And at least the clown suit will remain in outland.

I should add this

Jeff, I was thinking of that EXACT comic when I read your first comment. The last one just provided a handy link. Thanks. I will never get the picture of that "belt buckle" out of my mind, again....

And have you seen the Isle of QS badge gear? Oh my god. Its like we stepped into a disco-fever feather boa-infested nightmare.
Mainstay Nov 11th 2010 11:34PM
Just like in the real world, 60 to 70 is an era where we just want to leave the clothes behind us.
Archimald Nov 11th 2010 4:04PM
I'm not sure how I feel about everyone looking the same. If that's the situation. Is that the situation?
Moghar Nov 11th 2010 4:10PM
The Dungeon rewards are still the same. And I'm sure not everything looks the same.
Imnick Nov 11th 2010 4:37PM
Excuse me... what?
People have always worn the same gear, it's just that previously it looked like you bought each piece from a different store and now they will look more fitting.
Angrycelt Nov 11th 2010 5:07PM
It's not going to matter much for a huge majority of people since they'll be wearing their Heirloom gear anyway. Ugly shoulderpads and man-dresses! Yahoo!
/sigh
We'll either all look alike in the leveling range, or all look alike from BoA's.
JimJ Nov 11th 2010 11:02PM
I think you didnt read quite everything, it says, and I quote "..giving you a unique look every handful of zones." It does seems, that it depends on where you level, how you are gonna look like.
Koriael Nov 11th 2010 8:26PM
It's not a fashion show or Second Life, it's an MMO. You're supposed to be killing stuff. :)
Besides, how often are any two given characters going to be at the same level or wearing the same gear at the same time?
Aaron Nov 12th 2010 7:51AM
Someone call the fashion police. I can see it now.
/1 XxloldeathwinglolxX I KNOW YOU DIDN'T JUST PUT ON THE SAME ROBE AS ME. LEMME GET MY MAIN YOU GONNA PAY FOR THIS!!
sphagan Nov 11th 2010 4:04PM
While these look great, I am not a fan of homogeneity. When everyone looks the same it gets boring. One of the coolest things to me has always been seeing a different piece of armor that looks cool and saying "I want". I realize that the bulk of the game now is made around end-game content, but there are those that do enjoy the 1-60 area and everyone looking the same will kind of suck.
tiucanerus Nov 11th 2010 4:08PM
That is true, but you are forgetting that these are from quest rewards only, people wearing gear from instances or from professions will make everyone different.
