Mister Evil Runs for Office is a new short machinima by Oxhorn. The story, quickly told, is about Professor Evil and his decision to run for president of Evil University. An opposing candidate is also running for the same office and the two must conduct an evil campaign to win as many votes as possible.
I wasn't quite sure what the message of Mister Evil Runs for Office might be, so I decided to skip that level of analysis and just enjoy the movie. I feel like Oxhorn has really improved his artistic skills and many of the shots and visuals in this video are superlative. That kind of improvement can be impressive when you consider that Oxhorn is already a seasoned, experienced machinima maker.
If you want some of the visuals as wallpaper, by the way, Oxhorn has made some available on his wallpaper page. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at machinima@wow.com.
Is it just me, did I blink at the superlative shots and visuals, or was there nothing special about the cinematography in this clip? Perhaps I'm being overly critical, I know I could never make a machinima half as good, but I have seen many better examples far worthier of an article on WoW Insider.
Lol. Mr. Evil has been in office for several years now. In many states. In many countries. Sad but true. We need a planet with no more politicians and no more liars- er, lawyers.
I loved this video, yes I did. I love Oxhorn's unique brand of humor, but I can't be a bit disappointed at the political bias he's been sneaking into his otherwise perfectly innocent movies occasionally. He does make fun of more universal topics that we all laugh at, and I love this video for that, but most people could probably see the slight tilt towards a specific party. :\
... Ah, who am I kidding, this video and all of his are still freakin' great.
Bleh - his videos were much better when he didn't have a big head and put political crap into them. His moral righteousness is obtuse and simple.
Here's an Oxhorn movie boiled down to it's most complicated form: "I LOVE RIGHT WING POLITICS AND HERE I AM POKING FUN AT STEREOTYPES OF THE LEFT WITH MACHINIMA."
By the way, any thanks from this post goes to Jesus, not me.
I'm not sure what to think of you if I have to spell it out for you since it's most painfully obvious but I'll give a breakdown for those that lack the critical skills necessary to understand satire - even this little simple nugget from Oxhorn should be easy to notice as satire from anyone who has read The Onion at least.
I want you to keep in mind what evil is in contrast to what good is. It's not that hard.
Here's a direct quote from the film of what evil is,
"Are these truly evil acts? Didn't they make the world a better place?"
He tries to convince the crowd that he's evil because he recycles everyday, eats vegan meals, and rides a hybrid kodo (a shoutout to hybrid cars). He embraces political correctness and snubs out opposing views (mainstream media talk - hellooooo) When his students talk about fiscal responsibility, he punishes them (meaning that he is against it). That's just the first 1 minute and 45 seconds - there's more as one pushes through.
The evil is a stereotype of what the left is from the right's perspective - a very warped perspective but that's not the point. The point is is that it's preachy and due to that it's not as good as his older ones that had nothing to do with politics or trying to prove there is a God by playing with the idea of a pink invisible unicorn or whatever it is.
I don't want to be preached to - especially something WOW related which I use to get away from the real world. I don't want to be preached to by an obtuse person that looks, talks and acts like Allen Ginsberg, using wow as his platform.
But whatever.
His earlier movies were better - don't believe me, check them out. His politics were a little bit more hidden and less obnoxiously "in your face" than they are now.
I've been one of those who has been watching his machinima since he started and can definitely say that yeah, he's become a tad preachy over the years. Okay, maybe more than just a tad.
Some people enjoy his work and his humor, and I did as well at one point in time. He's just not anyone I care to view any longer. It's a shame, really, as he is a very talented individual (his musical pieces alone should be enough to convince anyone of that) but it seems like after he was hired by WeGame, he just got too full of himself.
There are those who still enjoy his work, and I have no qualms with them. I like things that other people don't, so it goes both ways. When WoW Insider shows his stuff, I just "change the channel", so to speak :-)

Yeah, probably. But it was still funny.
Hell, I voted for Obama and even I got a kick out of 'hope and change' and the propaganda poster in this vid. Very clever twist of things. XD

I saw him making fun of both sides equally.

I'm not quite sure I watched the same video you did? Unless you're trying to prove the adage about how people see/hear what they want to see/hear?

The best part of Oxhorn's movies is the Tauren running at the end that gets branded.
