The time between the start of stage 2 and stage 3 was shorter. I can tell you the current plan is to make the time between stage 3 and 4 even shorter. ;)

I certainly hope that a new phase doesn't start until Saturday of next week...I've been locked in at work since Friday and won't be out till next Friday...I don't want to miss a phase of this event....

Phase 4 will very most likely start tomorrow (Monday). They say the time between phases will be shorter and shorter. Like many others posting here I'm guessing you'll have at the very least 2-3 weeks to finish this phase.
In short, you needn't worry about missing it.

Speaking of phase 3, what all is there? I got sent out to the Elemental Plateau in Outland to talk to an NPC, and that was it. What did I miss?
And where should I look for elemental rifts, or are they gone now?

This might sound QQ-ish, but they kinda need to speed it up. The expansion releases in 3 weeks. So unless they are going to tear apart the world on release day, it has to be soon (that or delay the launch but that would not go over well with stockholders). I think we have the "world event bosses" next, so that is this week. I extremely doubt that the shattering will happen on the 23rd because it's a holiday week, so that leaves the 30th or the literal launch day to tear apart the world.
Either way it will not be long. If you want to do the quests, you better not wait.

I think people are confusing patch 4.03, which will contain all the data to make the Shattering possible, with the actual Shattering. I'm thinking 4.03a will happen on launch day, December 7th.
Can you imagine if they made the Shattering happen before the 7th? You'd get all kinds of people complaining, "Why can't I roll my worgen/goblin/new class/race combo???"
I could be entirely wrong, though. >.>;

My understanding from reading summaries of blizzcon events is that the shattering should occur approximately 2 weeks before release. That means 4.03a is likely to drop around November 23rd. What will be available with 4.03a will be changed world, updated 1-60 quests, new race/class combinations, archeology, and perhaps old world flying.
What won't be available are 80-85 zones, 80-85 dungeons (not including the lvl 80 wrath ones), level 85 raids, illustrious grand master profession skills, ability to level beyond 80, worgens, and goblins.
patch 4.03 is no different from 4.01 except that it contains the background files and codes necessary to turn on 4.03a without taking the servers down. I see patch 4.03 dropping this coming Tuesday.

I think 4.0.3 also contains the cinematic and new login screen [there is a blue post somewhere that says so], but other than that I think what you say is 100% right

I'm understanding the third phase albeit differently from some other players.
It is SO COOL.
I finally understand the government officials and security officials. They're doing their thing and it blows but you really see what they're doing and why.
Although to be honest, I love to side with the rabble and I felt bad for the cultists for a bit.
Then I remembered what was up :D

This is good news, I wish we had more time between phases, but my guild mates are starting to chop at the bit, they want actual invasions of cities and awesome sets and they want them now.

I noticed when I logged into my pally that I was downloading some patch info. I think 4.03 is right around the corner, and the shattering will happen probably a week or so before release. It is going to be CHAOS for awhile, and a week or so before release would let us get settled in a bit and ready to tear some shiznit up!

My video card went bad yesterday and the new one won't arrive until Thursday. I hope Phase 3 doesn't end before then. Not so much for myself, but my wife wants us to do it on our mains together, and I'd hate for her to miss it.
