The Daily Quest: There's no place like it

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
Occasionally when I'm doing my trawl for Daily Quest material, I run into a series of posts about the same subject. These are called "shared topics" -- and they can be awfully entertaining. There's a website out there called Blog Azeroth that offers these shared topics every now and again to bloggers that feel up to the challenge; if you're a Warcraft blogger, I'd recommend checking it out.
The latest shared topic was particularly interesting: What does "home" in Azeroth mean to you? Here's a series of posts from around the blogosphere that address just that:
- Pink Pigtail Inn uses this opportunity to talk about player housing.
- Blessing of the Grove talks about the home-like qualities of guilds.
- Kallizta's Notes offers an RP perspective on the meaning of home.
- Good Morning Azeroth wonders what will happen to home in the wake of Cataclysm?

Is Elwynn Forest/Goldshire going to be changed drastically? That's where I tend to idle most, if I ever had a second home in Azeroth, it would be there.

On the topic of Home, I know it has been brought up a few times but a zoned "guild hall" with stuff like a guild-bank, forge, anvil, guild banners and maybe a trophy or two would be pretty cool. Just a simple 1 building structure in say Org or SW that your guild zones into. Could be a neat idea, maybe as a reward for reaching some (accessible) guild level. Maybe not something Blizz wants to put in, or something that would be easy, but a guy can dream.
As a side note, I love wandering around the world looking for places to find the best Around Azeroth shots. (One day they will use one of mine.) Thunder Bluff is still my fav.

For me, my home for all of my characters is where they started off. This is especially true for my Night Elven druid as I feel most at home among the trees and animals.

Home in Azeroth...it varies from character to character. Some-- my first one-- doesn't really have any place that feels natural to her. For one blood elf, it's Ogrimmar. For the other, Silvermoon.
Mostly, though, Grizzly Hills. That's where my characters hang out when there is nothing else for them to do, and that's where I feel like I belong :D.

Jil's home is Southshore.
How do you THINK she is gonna feel come Cata? :(
brownyboi Nov 16th 2010 6:04AM
A bit damp and soggy?
RetPallyJil Nov 16th 2010 1:59PM
Monday, chance of tsunamis, followed by a strong front of Plague.
Yeah. I still haven't told Jil yet ;) why let her be unhappy?

Home is where your hearth is.

My druid's home is Thunder Bluff. Thunder Bluff is such an awesome city. in fact, Thunder Bluff ALONE was what drew me into WoW. The vistas of rolling plains, the quiet atmosphere, the tribal music, and for gosh sakes the city is built on MESAS. What more could you WANT?
My only other character is a Death Knight, and I've always felt like his home is Acherus, for obvious reasons.

Yay Blog Azeroth!
For me, my WoW home more resides in the guild that I'm in. As far as character homes are concerned though, I'm afraid that I opt for inns that enable me the easiest routes to my most visited destinations...I suffer from a severe case of laggitus, so trying to find the shortest and less laggy of routes takes priority over simply just hearthing to where I'd like.
Guild halls with the option of a player having their own room or at least a closet for BoP items would be wonderful addition in helping a guild feel more like a home.

My Human characters lived together had a house on a tiny island off the coast of Darkshore. That's always been my home. The reason I'm not living there? It's burned to the ground. All that remains is 2 walls. All of my alliance character's backstories originate from that little house.
I really hope it still exists after Cataclysm hits.

Been going a little crazy on my blog lately, but here's some articles that may be privvy to some attention. The blog title isn't really terribly imaginative, so maybe just use my character name: Kuriimu.
