Want to ask
Tom Chilton and J. Allen Brack questions about
Cataclysm? Well, you can, this Thursday on the Best Buy gaming forums. Straight from Best Buy:
This Thursday, Nov 18 at 4pm Pacific (12am GMT) Best Buy is hosting a live chatroom Q&A with Blizzard's Tom Chilton (Game Director) and J. Allen Brack (Production Director) about World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. The event is open to the public but is limited to 500 participants.
The chatroom will be hosted on the Best Buy Forums here: http://bbyurl.us/CataclysmCHAT. A forum account is required to participate. If you don't make it in under the 500-user limit, check out the overflow broadcast on Ustream: http://ustream.tv/channel/wowdevchat
Might be a good time to ask about your pet issue, like worgen females, ret paladin DPS, or cosmetic slots.

Best Buy has a forum?
huh. Learn something new every day.
Anyway, bit annoying that they're holding it outside of the world of warcraft site/message board, but whatever, will be interesting to see what is asked/answered.
Rob Nov 16th 2010 8:10PM
That's the first thing I thought of, lol. My second thought was "why?"
Eddy Nov 16th 2010 8:15PM
Why, marketing, of course!
Zdark Nov 16th 2010 8:19PM
Well thats a little weird.
Seems like thats a completley random place to host a dev chat.
Silly devs.
Still, no reason to pass up a chance to QQ about ret paladin dps/ask lore questions/generally interrogate Blizzard, eh?
Harvoc Nov 16th 2010 9:15PM
Agreed. I never thought that it had nor other retail companies had a forum. Go figure.
Chronos88 Nov 17th 2010 8:04AM
Well then... Now that we know this, the Best Buy forums shall be the new OT!

The thing about cosmetic slots is they aren't happening.
Someone posted a question on the message board awhile back about why the functionality of the Gnomeregan/Echo Isles overcloak was changed. Changed from useable item which turned your cloak onto a Gnomeregan/Echo Isles cloak with a 4 hour cooldown, to a plain white cloak.
They replied and said they had thought hard about it, but they didn't like the cloak changing into another one visually. So they scrapped that idea. So if they don't even like an item changing appearance for 30 minutes on a 4 hour cooldown, you aren't going to get cosmetic slots.
Drakkenfyre Nov 17th 2010 3:59AM
The people downvoting me, go for it. That's exactly what they said. They didn't like the idea of changing an item's look.
So if they didn't like the idea of temporarily changing an item's look for 30 mins, they aren't going to do a cosmetic slot.
Sorcha Nov 17th 2010 6:18AM
What I don't get is why changing an item's look for 30 minutes is bad, but turning the entire model into a troll for 30 minutes is fine. Both, presumably, are lost on death as most things are, so wouldn't affect PvP (or maybe not everyone dies as much as me.)

Downvote me if you will but...
You lost me at Best Buy.
briker Nov 17th 2010 12:16PM
My loathing of Best Buy (most misleading name ever, BTW) knows no bounds.
You know a fun game? Going to the Best Buy customer service forum. Great fun! The number of ways Best Buy screws their customers /boggles.

Hopefully some people with interesting questions get in. Would be great if we can get past the same old "Guild housing" type questions.

"Hi, I love what you've done with Shadow Priests. Now, I had a question about Palladins..."
bep4815 Nov 16th 2010 8:47PM
"Might be a good time to ask about your pet issue, like worgen females..."
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha sexism at its finest.
Eddy Nov 16th 2010 9:07PM
Wait, what? What does that have to do with sexism?
The worgen female models are odd-looking. I'm not sure how that has anything to do with making judgment about real, actual women because they are women. Unless you think the issues with the models stem from sexism, which could be possible (for example, that the developers are underestimating the female playerbase, and assuming that they'll only play puppy-women, which is *possible* but not really probable.)
MusedMoose Nov 16th 2010 9:23PM
The phrase "pet issue" means an issue that one has a distinct interest in, or an issue that someone finds important enough to bring up all the time, and so on. It has nothing to do with actual pets.
Please learn what words mean before criticizing others' use of them. Thank you.
Eddy Nov 16th 2010 9:40PM
Ah, thanks for translating, Moose.
bep4815 Nov 17th 2010 1:16AM
the joke was:
pet=female=sexism
let's all have a hearty laugh now
WaterRouge Nov 17th 2010 2:43AM
@ bep's second comment
No thanks..would rather just down vote ya.
ZeroDesu Nov 17th 2010 7:36AM
It would have been funnier if you tried to swing it as a BDSM joke...
