Patch 4.0.3a, The Shattering, is up on the PTR

It is entirely possible that The Shattering could take place next Tuesday the 23rd, as Blizzard has said that the time between events and phases in the elemental invasion are progressing at a faster pace. Another option is that The Shattering will take place one week before Cataclysm's launch, on the 30th, giving players one full week to experience the new content, race/class combos, and new world.
We can only wait and hope that this day comes sooner than later. My undead hunter and troll druid are itching to be made.

Yep, the 23rd is the anniversary of the original launch. Perfect time to blow up the world!
Castor27 Nov 17th 2010 2:23PM
Absolutely ^^^ This
Kia Nov 17th 2010 2:37PM
Hahaha, that would be -brilliant-. I hope soooo~
SpaceGoatPriest Nov 17th 2010 2:51PM
Instead of a new pet, I will take the world being destroyed :D
Rufio Nov 17th 2010 2:51PM
Now that you mention it, it seems like a logical certainty. Well spotted good sir. Plus one internets.

If they don't destroy the old world 6 years to the day when it came into existence, I would honestly be disappointed. That is too symbolic to let go. I love when symmetrical things like this occur.

God I hope so. NEEEEEEEEEED my Tauren pali and if it's over Thanksgiving break I can actually play with her a bit before I have to buckle down for final projects.
KerSplat Nov 17th 2010 8:51PM
Makes absolutely, perfectly, symmetrical sense.

Race/class combos are for everyone, just like zone changes and new 1-60 quests.
We have to wait for the expansion for goblins, worgen, raised level caps, new zones, and (I believe) archaeology and flying in old world.
Zone changes, new quests, new class combos, and deathwing running around slaughtering people randomly are actually already on your computer; they're part of the patch that went out yesterday. All that needs to be done is flip a switch.

Nathanos is almost here. And he's pissed.

I hope they fix Deathy for the Nth time as well as the new bugs they introduced with 4.0.3 (funny, I don't know how they will fix elemental invasion at all since there are no more patches). 4.0.3a will mark the rise or fall of WoW for 2011
Alleluid Nov 18th 2010 2:10PM
it will be 4.0.3.324829836189263861980234661236518248619862596198762358702132a

I was under the impression we could not try the new class/race combos until a Cataclysm key was active on your account. Is this not the case?
Can we try the new race/class combos with the patch and its simply the NEW races and NEW content we can't access until Dec. 7th?
Aedilhild Nov 17th 2010 2:32PM
Newly playable classes will be limited to those for the original races, but since The Shattering alters World of Warcraft's baseline product, they'll be available before Cataclysm.
l0lus Nov 17th 2010 2:29PM
AFAIK you can't try anything new unless you buy Cataclysm, a quick look to PTR could give you the final answer
Aedilhild Nov 17th 2010 2:30PM
Dwarf shaman.
I've got a beard picked out and everything.
Luci Nov 17th 2010 2:35PM
the beard IS the most important accessory.
Kunikenwad! Nov 17th 2010 2:45PM
Even my dwarven beard can dual wield. FOR KHAZ MODAN!
bruce Nov 17th 2010 2:50PM
Now, if your beard can dual-wield beards that will be truly spectacular.
SpaceGoatPriest Nov 17th 2010 2:53PM
So far only Rossi's beard is powerful enough to dual wield beards. It's so OP. I can't wait till they nerf that.
