World of Warcraft turns 6, but no free pet to be awarded

World of Warcraft's 6th Anniversary!World of Warcraft turns six on November 23rd, 2010! It's been a truly incredible six years, and we'd like to thank you all for joining us on this momentous occasion. To celebrate, players that log into the game between the dates of November 30th and December 14th will receive a feat of strength added to their Achievements. We look forward to another great year ahead and many more to come!
But what about that free anniversary pet?

Does this mean no pet? :(
Does this mean no pet? :(
The Baby Blizzard Bear was a gift that we mailed to players for logging in for our five-year anniversary. We plan to reserve this sort of celebratory bonus for the most notable milestones or events.
But I digress. Yes, it's sad that we're not getting a pet this year. And yes, it is weird that the anniversary period doesn't include the actual anniversary of the game. Still, any disappointment stems from Blizzard just plain being too generous in the past with this kind of stuff, so you can't hit the company too hard for coming up short this year.

@toddcore
Color me insane. That's exactly what I am saying. Had they said nothing and done nothing I wouldn't have given it a second thought. I'm not going to apologize for my point of view and I don't expect everyone to agree with it.

The source link goes to wow.com by the way... Which looks like it's fully up and running now. Not going to use it but still...

Speaking of which, I went to go check the cities that we're available and there's no Miami so I selected Philadelphia and the deal was to a restaurant called Cuba Restaurant with the description:
"Let’s face it – sometimes life can get a little routine, and our weekly dinner schedule is no exception. So if you’re having trouble churning out creative dishes after a long day of work and laundry, it’s time to trade the standard spaghetti and meatballs for some exceptional Cuban fare at ¡Cuba! Restaurant."
Halfway through reading I thought "Cuban food is routine" and then I remembered that this was for Philadelphia...

Pizzaman is disappoint. Maybe that should be the gift: a disappointment pet. It could be an Arizona Cardinal, the movie Grown Ups, or any Disney Sequel.
Tim {the other Tim} Nov 17th 2010 3:30PM
That's so raven raven.
SpaceGoatPriest Nov 17th 2010 3:47PM
I think a Carolina Panther would be a more disappointing pet.
John Nov 17th 2010 3:50PM
Hmm - a $100million Albert Haynesworth pet?
Die, Dan Snyder! Die!
Josin Nov 17th 2010 3:50PM
Not as disappointing as a Cincinnati Bengal pet.
Kunikenwad! Nov 17th 2010 3:58PM
How about a Brett Favre minipet with his own smart phone so he can send texts and pictures. Oh, how I rue the day my team picked him up. Viking is disappoint.
SpaceGoatPriest Nov 17th 2010 4:03PM
@ Josin, We are 1-8 so we win! Wait.....nevermind we lose. :(
Idaelus Nov 17th 2010 4:03PM
Lion Pet seems pretty good.
25 consecutive road losses, the only 'perfect' losing season ever, zero (0) playoff wins since the fifties, and a $42mil QB who's arm is attached to his shoulder via Velcro.
Lion pet FTW!!!! (I mean, Loss D:)
Viper20184 Nov 17th 2010 4:09PM
If we are going to disapointment, The Dallas Cowboy Star pet!
Noyou Nov 17th 2010 6:00PM
Ha. I got that beat. Nothing is so adorable and disappointing as a Chicago cub :) Believe me. I know. I have been a fan for over 20 years,

Now I can't decide whether we're getting the Shattering on the 23rd (WoW's actual B-Day, and waaaay too good a PR move to pass up, IMO as a marketing person) or the 30th (when peeps start getting the FoS).
So confused...
Kylenne Nov 17th 2010 3:17PM
I would almost put money on it being the 23rd. At Blizzcon, they mentioned that they wanted to give people two weeks to get used to the changes before Cataclysm launched. The 23rd is exactly two weeks before 12/7. The timing would just be too damn perfect.
Bronwyn Nov 17th 2010 3:19PM
Also take into account that the 23rd is the week of US Thanksgiving and I think they'll wait till the following Tuesday.
Docseuzz Nov 17th 2010 3:20PM
There's always the one kid invited to the birthday party that ruins it for everyone... Deathwing is that kid...
Kylenne Nov 17th 2010 8:45PM
God help the person who tells Deathwing he has to sit at the kids table.
Sintraedrien Nov 18th 2010 3:11AM
@ Kylenne
That's only because Deathwing /broke/ the adult's table.
Sintra E'Drien of the Ebon Blade, né Sindorei (still ravenously Worgen-curious)
Shawn Nov 17th 2010 3:16PM
That's disappointing. Looks like Blizzard has been just too busy with the xpac to have any time to create a new pet. Even with brewfest they didn't even bother creating a new color for the brewfest stein.
