I'm probably missing something, but if my pet is tanking for me, why do I care about the Chimera Shot heal?

If you never take any damage at all the entire leveling process, you don't. Realistically, you're still going to get adds chewing on you from time to time, and it's much nicer to just Chimera Shot the next group rather than stopping to bandage or eat.

Potential AoE damage - I know nothing of what we face in Cataclysm but in Wrath there were several group quests that I was able to solo that had AoE damage and even some trash spawns that come from all around, like in the arena quests in Zul'Drak.

Fair enough. In the past while leveling, I never took enough damage to bother to heal other than passively over time.
