Steelseries introduces new SHIFT key set for MMOs

When I was at BlizzCon, I asked myself a couple of times why Steelseries doesn't actually have a generic MMO key set for the SHIFT -- but then I quickly remembered we were at BlizzCon, mecca for all things Blizzard, and I realized it might not be the ideal place to show it off. Now, however, it is here, and it looks pretty neat. We don't have a date on its availability yet, but the price of the key set should run around $24.99 (SHIFT keyboard sold separately, natch). Check out Steelseries' website for more details.
Also, for those curious readers sending me emails about the mechanical Steelseries 6Gv2 that I picked up after BlizzCon, wanting my impressions after using the keyboard for a few weeks? Love it.

I will say I was a very early adopter of the Z-Boad (I have the age of wonders and medal of honor keysets to prove it) And I will say I am somewhat surprised to see this product line, although evolved, is still in production. It seems very niche, this is definitely a step in the right direction. Swapping out keysets per game is not very ideal. If I see this in a retailer I will be sure to take another look.

SteelSeries accidentally sent me a SHIFT board (I was asking for an exchange on another item, so this kind of rocked) and it shocked me with the build quality compared to the zBoard, though SS sadly still refuses to give it real Mac Compatibility.

wheres the shift key?

I don't know who uses these keyboards. They squish the buttons into a netbook-size layout, the fold-ability of the unit makes it feel like a kid's plastic toy, and the macro buttons they include are laughable at best.
Will this company never die?

It's granted the Z-Board series isn't/wasn't ideal, but as Kildar below said; the Merc series is excellent and I still have yet to find a reason to hate mine. Just because you don't personally like it doesn't mean no one else should either. Contrary to your quite obvious beliefs, you don't control the world and what people like.
Will you arrogant, self-absorbed retards ever die?

Its a gaming keyboard...
As in so many things I. Life, if you can't find usage for it, then it isn't meant for you to be using it...
Some people don't need to type in chat, use more keys than the ones defined and need faster keyboards...
... Others type/pug from chat, don't know how to use voice chat and can't tell the difference between a gaming keyboard and straight vanilla keyboards

I bought a Zboard for a friend last year, only to find that they only supported XP, was a nightmare trying to get it to work with Vista/Win7.
In the end it wasn't worth the pain and the horrible support from the vendor, but like all things, hopefully it will get better with time, and this new version might be worth the price tag.

I don't know about the Z-Board series, but the SteelSeries Merc Stealth is the best gaming keyboard I've ever owned.

logitech G19/15 for functionality, razer lycosa for looks imo.

Totally agree, wish we could get a more updated profile for wow though. The stats it decides to display when you are a caster are pretty worthless =\ among other things
time2k6 Nov 18th 2010 10:48PM
You know you can press the 2nd media button from the left and it changes which stats it shows, right?

I'd shy away from the lycosa. I have one. About once a week, a random key will die or get "stuck" and I'll have to unplug the keyboard to get it to reset. It was almost amusing when I was doing htoc and couldnt stop running in circles, even though no keys were being pressed. I thought it was because I once spilled beer in the keyboard, but after researching it, it's a widespread problem :P
