4.0.3a: What is in it, what is not.Good thread, Sammew. Aside from content, also included in the upcoming patch are several class balance changes and bug fixes. Due to several talent revisions for select classes, druids, paladins, priests, and shaman will have their talent trees reset.
Experience required to gain levels 71 through 80 is being reduced by 20%.
You'll also get the Cataclysm introductory cinematic and new login screen.

I have a profession b*tch at level 75 - a hunter I couldn't stand levelling anymore, but his JCing and Enchanting is maxed. Apparently to get good recipes in both when Cata comes out, I need to level him.
Alas.
But at least he saves almost a level's worth to get to 80.

yay!

I just exploded in happiness over this change! I know it comes with every expansion, but I have two characters at the edge of starting Northrend and this change will make it much simpler.
MusedMoose Nov 18th 2010 10:12PM
Very pleased with this.
While questing through Northrend was great compared to previous content, I have a feeling that it'll feel a bit of a letdown post-Cataclysm. Time to just hit my favorite questlines (Kalu'ak FTW) and roll through some dungeons. w00t.

Okay, I get that the comment system is messed up right now, so everyone's double-posting, but how in Yogg-Saron's baby teeth did I manage to get double-posted on either side of someone else's post??

Blame Sacco's haircut.

You have hidden talents you aren't aware of. ;)

@ Noyou-
It's "Moose", thanks, and I'm a guy. ^_^ "Mused" is a verb.

I was comfortable with the model of leveling up until 78-79 and 79-80, which was when I felt it got a bit ridiculous. But then again, at that time it was the last levels before the level cap. I think they should have kept most of the leveling design-flow intact but tweaked the last few down. My $0.02s.
Kaiser Nov 18th 2010 10:20PM
My guess is that they will keep the existing levelling trend by allowing characters who are 78 into the next expansion, where the jump in experience needed wont be as badly felt due to the massive leap in xp given by Cata quests/mobs.
Bobbo Nov 18th 2010 10:28PM
You need to be lvl 80 to receive quests in either of the Cata starting zones, so I wouldn't count on jumping out of Northrend before then.
Drakkenfyre Nov 18th 2010 11:14PM
They have already said the minimum levels for the next zones are 80. So you walk in at 78, and not only are you not going to get any quests, you are going to get smeared, too.
MikeLive Nov 18th 2010 10:33PM
They're not, Vashj'ir and Hyjal quests can't be grabbed unless you're level 80. It's a change I'm hoping they'll trickle down in the future, restructure so you spend 10 levels in Northrend (70-80, instead of 12 currently in Wrath/Cata) and 10 levels in Outland (60-70, instead of 8 in Cata, 60-68).
Kuro Majutsukai Nov 18th 2010 11:07PM
MikeLive: You can start questing in Outland as soon as level 58
Goulashia Nov 18th 2010 10:16PM
So happy!! I always dreaded going through the WotLK zones on my alts. Too much running back and forth, returning quests only to be forced to go back to the same area.
Swifteye Nov 19th 2010 6:04AM
Agreed. I'd forgotten JUST how bad this gets in WotLK as compared to BC or vanilla... until my Horde pally went through the New Hearthglen series of quests in Dragonblight yesterday.
Word to the wise, if you don't like the sorts of quests that make you keep going back to the same place one quest at a time, don't accept ANY Horde quests that make you go to New Heathglen!...... *twitch*

Good God. Wrath leveling has always been the fastest for me, always seemed to do it in 2-3 days. But this change...awesome.
