Call for Submissions: Breakfast Topics
Once again we're looking to you, dear readers, to help fill the WoW Insider Breakfast Topic cup with hot, fresh topics! What's on your mind (and what do you think is on other players' minds) when it comes to the World of Warcraft? Write it up as Breakfast Topic and submit your article for a chance to be published right here on WoW Insider.
We're looking for Breakfast Topics in our usual conversational style, asking the community for their thoughts on a WoW-related topic. Submissions should be between 200 and 300 words. (Watch that top end! Exceeding it substantially could get your submission thrown out, no matter how good it is! Brevity is your friend.) We're looking for strong writing in combination with topics that will spark an interesting conversation. Only the best submissions will be accepted. Multiple submissions from one author is allowed.
WoW Insider does not accept articles submitted under player names or pen names; please use your full, real name and an actual email address. Please include your email address again at the bottom of your submission -- the email address will not be published, but it makes it easier for the WoW Insider staff to contact you if there is a need for it. Artwork is not mandatory, but any you choose to include must be your own work or via creative commons.
Currently the Seed program only accepts submissions from individuals living in the United States, and we are not accepting submissions outside of the Seed service. We hope to make international submissions available at some point in the future; watch Seed.com for updates.
To submit an article, read up about our guest post program, then sign up for Seed. WoW Insider articles are not listed among Seed's open category listings; click here to view the assignment and submit your article. (You may be unable to see it unless you have a Seed account.) We'll accept Breakfast Topic submissions for this call-out until 12:00 a.m. EST on Mon., Dec. 13. If you have additional questions about this assignment, drop us a line at alex@wowinsider.com.
Have you ever wanted to write for WoW Insider? Your chance may be right around the corner. Watch for our next call for submissions, and be sure to sign up for Seed, the Aol guest writer program that brings your words to WoW Insider. The next byline you see here may be yours!

I was wondering when another of these would go out...
Delerius Nov 19th 2010 7:30PM
@Thundercreame
You are literally the craziest person I've ever met.
Noyou Nov 19th 2010 8:16PM
(Cutaia) they should have warned you when you put your face on here that there could be days like this. Just look at the effect Sacco's hair has. And to think not many have smelled it and lived to spin the tale. GL brother.
Rufio Nov 20th 2010 7:19AM
How did thundercreame get downrated, that was some serious wax de lyricale! Nonsense maybe, but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless!
Rufio Nov 20th 2010 7:25AM
^ Update, Ah ok, I see now. I just followed the comment trail. Lunatic.
Rufio Nov 20th 2010 8:12PM
^ Johnny, looks like Thundercreme was banned. He just posted nonsensical and absurd comment after comment. He was deliberately trying to antagonise a bunch of popular commenters here but ultimately ended up looking like a douche.

I would love to help you out!
Thing is, i am a South American, and it appears only North American's can submit....
Are there plans to change this?
Saeadame Nov 19th 2010 6:18PM
Not all North Americans can submit, just people in the US. Canadians (like me) can't.
Not complaining, btw! I know they're probably aware that there are people outside the US that would like to use the program, and are just considering whether they want to open it.
Corath Nov 19th 2010 6:23PM
It's not WoW Insider who controls that, unfortunately, it's the Seed program. Plus, it's not just North America, it's United States only. I'm thinking it has something to do with taxes and such.
I live in Canada and would love to contribute, but alas I cannot...
So in the meantime I'll just plug my blog at http://corath.wordpress.com
One day...

Same here, I'd love to contribute, I have an awesome subject!
I think I'll just make a thread on wow forums...

I'm curious - I can't enter an article anyway because I'm in Australia, but why are pen names unallowed? As the forum RealID fiasco pointed out, some people are wary of allowing their real names to be associated with WoW, so you won't have as much submissions as you could as a result.
I'm sure there's a good explanation for it, I'm just curious.

We're paying you for the articles submitted, and it's our journalistic standard here on WoW Insider to publish our articles under our real names. If we're going to say something, we're going to own up to it. : ) We have turned away promising applicants for various positions because they were unwilling to publish their work under their real name. That's a deal breaker for us.
It might surprise a lot of people, but we do try to be professional here at WoW Insider. Being willing to own up to what we publish is a large part of that. There's no hiding behind a persona. We see it as very different from Real ID. We won't make you use your real name to comment on our site, but we sure will if you want to publish content here as a professional freelance journalist/blogger.
Xantenise Nov 19th 2010 8:16PM
I didn't see it that way at all, thanks for explaining it. :)
Noyou Nov 19th 2010 8:26PM
@ Alex
The pen name thing kind of sucks. I submitted two pieces to be copyrighted under a pen name. If I ever get published I fully intend on using a pen name. I don't agree with the philosophy that anything written under a pen name is not professional or less worthy. I do respect you guys as a staff and the guest writers. I understand your feelings and company line about the pen name issue but for you to infer that it is less professional to use one is a bit off putting to say the least. I think there might be a whole lot of authors out there who might agree.

I would love to help, but i am a South American player....
Any plans to change this, and make it viable for Non-north Americans to submit our posts?
It appears my last comment was erased.....
Noz. Nov 19th 2010 6:15PM
I apparently commented twice... Ugh
Jay Nov 19th 2010 6:15PM
For some reason I want an espresso...
Zalvi24 Nov 19th 2010 6:16PM
there goes again, another pic of that nasty cup of "coffee"
Darren Nov 19th 2010 6:22PM
I believe the cannot use the SEED program outside of the US for payment and/or tax purposes. Along with that, it's likely they need real names for the same reason. As a solution to writers who want to at least get a chance, I don't suppose there would be any issue someone outside of the states writing a topic and granting legal permission for someone from the US to use it (guildy or friend maybe?). I'm sure you could email them to ask. Seems to be it would be fine since it would officially be coming from someone in the US, even if you aren't getting credit for it at least you'd know your words were up on a cool site.

That wool be a beautiful cup of Greek coffee!!
