Kaorael asked:
Will archeology be available as soon as 4.0.3a and The Shattering of the world take place, or will we have to wait till the Cataclysm release for it?
You'll need to wait until Cataclysm is released on Dec. 7th.
Deadulus asked:
In the beta, are there gas clouds for engineers to harvest volatiles from? I'd hate to have to retire my Zapthrottle Mote Extractor ...
I haven't seen any, and neither have others. But as everyone has noted, volatiles drop from everything, so I don't think primordials are going to be that hard to come by yourself. And certainly they're going to be a ton on the AH, which you can buy with your daily monies.
Engineering has a lot of cool other gadgets, though; I doubt many will miss the gas cloud farming.
Spelio asked:
I am currently trying to get this and I need about 140 quests in Kalmidor to finish. I am hoping to complete this before Cataclysm, but I have heard that your progression will be wiped if you are not done by patch 4.0.3. With The Shattering coming soon (before the actual Cataclysm release), will the wipe happen at The Shattering or with Cataclysm's release? I have not been able to find any clarification on this. Let's hope someone out there knows for certain.
Here's some clarification from Ghostcrawler:
The exploration and quest achievements probably won't change. If you have the achievements, you won't lose them. If you don't have them, you can still get them, but obviously you'll have different quests or areas to explore. The greatest risk is to players who are almost done with one of these achievements, because they might suddenly have to do more than they thought (say 100 quests instead of 50).
We aren't removing MC or BWL as of this writing. We aren't going out of our way to remove old legendaries. The only risk there in a case like Thunderfury is if we change a zone like Silithus so much that the quests become hard to keep intact.
You can still get "What a Long Strange Trip It's Been." In general, we are going to go bend over backwards to not remove existing achievements.

Now this post was several months ago, but it still stands as far as I can tell. If you've earned 55/700 quests, then come The Shattering (which is likely next Tuesday), you'll be at 55/900 quests (or whatever the number of quests in Kalimdor is now). If you already have earned the achievement, then you've already earned the achievement, and that won't be going away.
Please be aware though that this information is kind of old, and things could change -- even between now and next Tuesday.
Josin asked:
If Mike Sacco is playing basketball and leaps from behind the three-point line and dunks the ball, does he earn three points or two?
Sacco's more of the male cheerleader type. His hair is too pretty for sports.

At the same moment, two trains leave Chicago and New York. They move towards each other with constant speeds. The train from Chicago is moving at speed of 60 miles per hour, and the train from New York is moving at speed of 40 miles per hour. The distance between Chicago and New York is 1000 miles. If Mike Sacco is coming from New York and puts his head out the window, will his hair still look fabulous?

Also, this closes out my week of Sacco questions. Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun, and special thanks to Adam Holisky for actually answering one today!

As long as he remembers the mousse.
Aaron Nov 19th 2010 11:14AM
GC promised me mousse. =/
Noyou Nov 19th 2010 11:28AM
Then you will be disappointed when a pudding like dessert appears in your wow email. I think you want the rideable "Moose" mount. I'll take the dessert if you don't want it.
Dendaris Nov 19th 2010 12:09PM
I think Aaron is willing to settle for a new hairstyle at the barbershop instead of a mount or pet. I hear the barbershop is getting more progressive and is offering fashionable stylings with mousse instead of simple cuts and colors.
But hey... while we're on the subject, why can't night elf druids get moose antlers? Cenarius, though not a night elf, had some nice ones. And Malfurion's rockin' some antlers of his own (or if not his own, stolen from one of the poor, defenseless deer wandering around Darnassus).
Josin Nov 19th 2010 12:13PM
I think all the deer in Darnassus already had their antlers stolen, because I haven't seen one with antlers in years.

Not only that, but one train is carrying a bomb the size of the Chrysler building! The other, a bus full of children on a field trip. BOOM!
nevwyn Nov 19th 2010 12:42PM
Provided he sticks his head out the right window his hair will still look fabulous. If he sticks his head out the left window, his hair will still look fabulous but it will now belong to the train coming from Chicago which will in turn look fabulous when it arrives in New York.

Hijacking:
Moving along the same lines of explorer achievements, will current "Explorers" have to rexplore the world to uncover the map, or will we have clear maps except for the new zones?

Mike Sacco is running down a train track with a speed of 5m/s. A train coming the other way with a speed of 40 m/s. Sacco and the train collide and head off in the original direction of the train with a speed of 40 m/s. Since Sacco was originally moving at 5 m/s in one direction, and is now moving at 40m/s in the other, at some point he must have had a speed of 0m/s. Does this mean Sacco successfully stopped a train?
Haga Nov 19th 2010 2:58PM
You are assuming that Sacco's velocity function is continuous. It actually has a jump discontinuity at the moment of impact (like a step-function if you are familar with it). One instance he's going 5 m/s, then he immeditaly jumps to 40 m/s in the other direction.
And yes, I know it was a joke, but I can't help but take an opportunity to use my calculus knowledge!

@Jack Miles
Is there any significance to your asking a question where all units are in Metric, with a name like that?
Walker Nov 19th 2010 6:36PM
Hate to hijack the thread but Magister's Terrace is glitched right now and drops the phoenix hatchling 100% of the time. Everyone who doesn't have it and want it, now is your chance! :D
Walker Nov 19th 2010 8:43PM
And it is no longer glitched :(

Done with Mike Sacco questions, most likely.
Honestly, I'd have dropped it before today if not for the backlash from the haters. And I said I'd stop if they answered one, and Adam Holisky has done that. I'm a man of my word.
It was a fun week, and who knows? I may come up with some other interesting line of questioning in future weeks.
Would've been entertaining to see Sacco handle a Queue and answer all my questions at once, but that will just have to remain a dream unfulfilled.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
