There are uncomfortable truths about expansion. In An Inconvenient Expansion by Lagspike Films, Al Boar desperately attempts to warn us of these dangers.
It's been a while since we've heard a lot from Lagspike Films, but this is certainly a fun movie. The technical details are awesome, and the creators did a great job of framing the story. Here's hoping we see more in the future. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Me, personally? No car, and I am terrified of bringing more people into a world that's already brimming with them.
I would say that Earth will probably be okay, no matter what. But if people don't make lifestyle changes, there may be no more lifestyle to protect in some generations- maybe no more human life, but certainly drastically different styles of living. We'll either run out of stuff to make more stuff out of (like, I don't know, oil to make plastics, though I guess the bio plastics are starting to get around), or we'll screw up the ecosystem too much to perpetuate our ways. Buying "green" helps- but buying less stuff, or more permanent stuff, is a better step. Frankly, Cataclysm may be the most environmentally-friendly Warcraft release yet- I imagine a lot more people are doing digital download, which means fewer boxes, fewer disks, and less shipping those items around the country.
@Gizen You're a lil off topic. I'm arguing the man-made global warming is a hoax. You are trying to twist that into me saying that polution does not exists. What person in their right mind wants more polution? And i'm not sure where you live, but where i live i already breath clean air and drink clean water. If we already have this, what more are you asking for? Every "solution" the eviromentalists come up with all end with the same result: dead humans and wealth redistribution.
@Eddy Lifestyle changes? I choose the way I live, not you or any government. See I live in a free country that embraces liberty (although that has become quite the fight as of late). I drive a sports car that uses lots of gas because i enjoy it, in the summer i crank up the AC, in the winter i turn up the heat, and i pay for it with my hard earned $$. How you live your life is your choice, but you have no right to tell anyone else how to live theirs.
Here is two examples of what the enviro-nuts have supported: Strict CAFE Standards to reduce emissions which resulted in cars being built w/ lighter, weaker materials resulting in tens of thousands of fatalities in wrecks because their cars were crumbled like coke cans and the banned use of DDT under false pretenses which resulted in MILLIONS of children around the world dying from malaria from swarms of mosquitoes.
But Tyriell, did you choose to breathe in DDT? I didn't. That's the thing- right there, you just supported something that changes how people live.
Everyone disagrees about policy- I don't think it should be legal for people to use up a finite resource for jollies. You don't think preventative measures with side effects should be abandoned (which is a fair point and one I'll concede some times and not others.)
I saw a sign the other day about how war shouldn't be fought when there are starving people, and that all the money for war should go to feed the poor. My gut instinct is to agree with that. But I've heard the same exact argument against arts funding. Or people arguing that no one should be feeding the needy in America when there are so many needy people in other countries. Or why feed people when there are too many and the environment is the problem. Everyone has different priorities, and that's why all these things are so complicated.
@Eddy DDT is harmless, even to children. What side effects are you talking about? The basis for your arguement is false, do you not realize this? It really is a miracle chemical. It has no effect on people, so how does spraying it to kill insects that transmit disease a lifestyle change? Its not and so your arguement has no weight. I lifestyle change actually affects the way we live. Imagine that you had to keep your heat lower in the winter in the name global warming. You would probably have to wear layers of clothes or wear your coat inside. That changes the way you live now. Some would say small change, but where do we draw the line? You want it to be illegal to use resources as we see fit. And where does this authority come from? What gives any man the power to dictate what another does with their property? No man should EVER have that kind of power! With how corrupt government is, do you really think they will be fair in the limits everyone gets? What does government run now that is efficient and truly fair? Besides the military, the answer is nothing... You are not championing the enviroment, you are wanting people to give up their freedoms. And you are doing it in the name of lies. Whats more disturbing is you don't even try to defend the loss of lives because of enviromental "causes". WAKE UP MAN!
As for you other comments about war, art funding, and feeding the poor...I understand you are trying to add weight to your arguement, but you are really all over the place and trying to take this into other tangents which are separate issues on their own. Instead, you should defend your ideology because that is what we are really debating here. I champion liberty while you are championing tyranny. Let me leave you with this thought and please think on it. (Man is imperfect and therefore anything man creates will also be imperfect. Wouldn't the best way to live in a civil society be in one which lets each person live their own life and meet their own needs to the best of their abilities?) Because how can any one man or group of people know better than you how you should live your life?
Global cataclysm is a myth. The science doesn't back it up and it's all a plot cooked up by liberal Twilight Hammer cultists to hand over Azeroth sovereignty to the the fatcat elitists in Stormwind.
Well, that's what Sarah Paladin tweeted, anyways. [wink]
