has anyone been able to get ironforge pilgrims peril done post-patch? The guards seem to be camped out right at the tables itself and it seems much more difficult now than noted above.

Yup, since the Shattering the level 85 guards at the IronForge tables will attack you and bring you in combat before you can get near the table. I spent about 20 minutes, many deaths and high repair bills trying and failing to get the Ironforge done.
The other problem post patch is the only way for a Horde player to get to Darnassus is through Stormwind Harbour as the boats to Darnassus and Exodar from Darkshore have been removed.
This does seem like an oversight on Blizzard's part who didn't appear to take account the changes that patch would have on an event which still has 3 days left to run.
Hopefully they address it to make it more fair.

I had Darnassus left as horde for my achievement. On my hunter I had an elixir of water walking and used aspect of the cheetah and went to the very northwestern corner, the place closest to Teldrassil and crossed the ocean heading northwest. I made it there barely beating fatigue before it killed me. Seems a lot easier than having to brave Stormwind for the achievement.
