I have to say, that's an addon I was glad to see go unsupported. It was fine for RP, but people wouldn't turn it off in instances and raids, and it gets annoying the fifth time someone yells the same thing while casting a fireball or healing the tank.

I know that for every person who misused it, there were ten who set it to not go off with every spell cast and had a randomized list of sayings... but the few who made it annoying made it so annoying that I was not unhappy to see it go away.

Urgh, I agree with Gendou on this one. I remember a tank friend that had it set up to every single command- and the guy didn't even *actually* roleplay- he'd just transferred to a RP server with the hopes that no one would mind his totally self-centered addon use.

I played around with it myself, but it just never seemed to make any sense to me- I guess none of my characters are superheroes who announce their moves or make witting sayings during combat.

I'm reminded of a mod called Battle Cry. I loved that mod. I set the frequency low, and had a lot of random sayings, to keep it fresh.

A guildmate of mine made me a replacement for the old broken mods of this sort, called Personality. It's updated for 4.0. I don't know if he ever released it into the wild, or if it's just on his Google page, though. (He also has an Eloquence replacement called Gibberish, for those that mourn that great old mod.)

Kind of makes me wish I had a Monty Python addon that would shout random, hilarious insults.

There's one out there called Battle Cry - Downloaded it forever ago, and it still works wonderfully for the few abilities I have it keyed to.

The addon had a feature where it would automatically shut-off in raid or even in party. If someone was being obnoxious with it in our raids, we'd simply pause and ask the person in question to turn it off. Problem solved.

(and believe me, having my pally yell "INCOMING!!" on tossing Avenger's shield for the initial pull or entering combat was a great signaling method.)

Koleckai -- SpeakinSpell is the horrible add-on I'm referring to in my OP. I've tried it several times, and completely hate it.

BattleCry still works for you?! I thought they broke that in late BC/early Wrath, and hadn't seen an update in ages!

I loved that addon. I had about 15-20 different taunts that would randomly spout when I hit taunt, as well as an assortment of "Demoralizing Shouts." Nothing takes the wind out of a boss's sails quite like "Your parents never loved you!"

If it's still working, I may have to track it down again.
