Breakfast Topic: My Pilgrim's Bounty feast

...
Pilgrim's Bounty ... the elementals have already won ...
Personally, I am a fan of Pilgrim's Bounty. Whether I am a fan of the holiday while the world roils in upheaval and churns in turmoil is another story entirely. Mostly, I enjoy cooking, and Pilgrim's Bounty is a cook's dream holiday, especially if you have a Chef's Hat. All this food got me thinking about food, however. Personally, every time those damned candied potatoes show up I get seriously hungry for some good potatoes. At my Pilgrim's Bounty feast, there will be so many potatoes.
How about you? Which Pilgrim's Bounty foodstuffs will grace your table this holiday? Which of the holiday recipes are your favorites to cook and why? Also, bonus question: How many of you got Chef de Cuisine after learning the Pilgrim's Bounty recipes?

Hmm. So the elementals get to raze the cities while everyone sits outside eating themselves into a coma-like state.
Excellent timing; Deathwing is more clever than I thought. ^_^

On PvP servers it's hell.
Horde invading, Elementals invading, Evacuation portals stopping you from leaving not on foot.
To get the stuff from the recipes, I had to literally ride from SW to RRM, fly to Ironforge, hearth to Dal to get to Darn, Wormhole back to Dal to get to stormwind.
Then again, if you thought the elemental invasion was bad, try flying somewhere in America. At least Orlando kicked the TSA out.

I am not a fan of this holiday even, I really don't know why. I just do not find it fun. Thank goodness it is not needed for the meta.

I'm not a huge fan of it either, but it is still an awesome free gift from Blizz for cooking. I raised an alt from 0 cooking skill to 375 in under an hour. Can't beat that.

Definitely a good time to pick up cooking if you slacked on it and don't want to do the fishing/cooking grind.

Being in Europe, and not in Leiden in Holland, I won't be doing or eating anything even slighty related.
The only reason I even know it's Thanksgiving is because I get to level cooking.
It seems rather strange to have the holiday event during the elemental invasion- 'Oh no, Orgrimmar's on fi- do you smell turkey? Stuffing?? CRANBERRIES??! TO THE FEAST!!!'
Arbolamante Nov 22nd 2010 9:20AM
Well, yeah. Cranberries? Stuffing? Better yet, cranberry stuffing? Who cares if the world is ending? Pass me the dang gravy!

THERE'S A GIANT WATER ELEMENTAL EATING OUR DAUGHTER!!!"
"At least there's something to be grateful of ... her going on about dreams of giant dragons of precious metal."

I'm not sure if I like this holiday or not. I know the cooking benefits are worth it, its the only holiday thing I'm going to make sure that my most used alts are going do. I know that cooking once you get to northrend is extremely useful, especially for those mana users out there. I know I was a happy druid to see that the fish you cook in northrend give health and mana. One less thing to carry.
As for the holiday meal at my house, I am personally responsible for the home made cranberry sauce. I'm the only one left of the family that knows how to make it (and refuses to settle for the can!). I've even been called and asked to make a bowl for my aunt to take with her to the big family gathering (that I'm going to miss this year).. and I've gotten myself an invite to her after thanksgiving-thanksgiving dinner so that she's got leftovers-dinner.. so that I can have my uncle's candied sweet potatoes which are the best ever.
The usual turkey and trimmins will be on the table, but the cranberries and the sweet potatoes are my favorite.

Thank god for PB, it gave me some content to do on alts so that I didn't waste away from boredom this weekend...

Pigrim's Bounty this year from a low level view:
SW Quest giver: hey, could you get me something from Ironforge?
Low Level Player: Sure, I'll fly there and get it for you.
Player runs into Stormwind: 6 districts unsecured. Player leaves Stormwind.
High Level Mage: Selling portals!!! Only 5g.
Player looks at wallet: 1g 71s 42c.
Player runs to Deeprun Tram, meets elemental, releases from corpse, runs back to corpse, rezzes, meets elemental, releases from corpse, rezzes at spirit healer.
Player starts running for Westfall to talk to the flightmaster.

I'd laugh.. because it is funny. But at the same time, holiday aside, I'm a little annoyed by the invasions already. Which is sad because I logged on day one that I'd read they were happening just to do them and the bosses. And it was all pretty awesome, on that day.
I was working on my baby shaman, I had forgotten about the invasions in Orgrimmar (rather, I just hadn't thought about them).. I had a turn in there, had to train and empty bags so I hearthed there. Right in the middle of an invasion, so I ran up the flight tower thing to sit where the flight orc should be and just logged out. Didn't want to wait, didn't want to chance running through the city to go out to the zep, just.. stopped.
As for mages, there were a lot of em everywhere offering ports. Some were priced high (5g for a port.. i'd seen up to someone asking for a port and willing to tip 40g!), and others were just saying hey i'm opening up a port to Ironforge, who needs to go?
I'm fairly certain that being a mage is going to be quite lucrative come 4.0.3a when the portals in dal and shat disappear.

Think you've got it tough? In Thunder Bluff, the entire Pilgrim's Bounty area is considered inside the city limits, and thus the phase for the invasion. It therefore vanishes all the quest givers, which lead to a few lowbie alts sitting on their kiesters at the bottom of the elevator while waiting for the end of the event.
Still, at least my fresh new warrior cow got her cooking up to way beyond the point it should be now.
Dendaris Nov 22nd 2010 10:34AM
That sounds pretty painful, Bloppie. If 4.03a drops tomorrow, you'll have some peace from the elementals, I imagine. Although, you'll have to look out for Deathwing bringing death and destruction from above.
@Gordal
Yeah, that's a weird thing about Thunder Bluff. Since I was in Darnassus on my night elf main, I decided to start Pilgrim's Peril at Thunder Bluff. I wasn't sure why it was raining so hard in Mulgore, and by the time I got to the base of Thunder Bluff, I was thoroughly confused. "But The Overachiever's Guide said the table would be RIGHT here.... hey.. what's going on?"
After I figured out what was going on, I hid in the shadows a bit, out of reach of the Horde players. When the last district was finally secured, the tables appeared, and no fewer than 12 Alliance players came out of hiding and descended upon them like ravenous beasts.

I didn't get Chef de Cuisine, but I did learn the last cooking recipes in the game, meaning my main can now cook absolutely anything. Except Thistle Tea. We don't talk about Thistle Tea.
Swifteye Nov 22nd 2010 10:05AM
Ooh, so jealous! My Chef toon got Chef de Cuisine before this holiday as well; now with the holiday recipes, she's only missing Thistle Tea and those blasted purple chimawhateveryacallit chops...
Grats on getting the chops, which I assume you have since you didn't list them among the things you're missing. I was planning to do the grind, but run after run of BWL I'd had lined up to start the rep grind fell through... don't think I have enough time before the quest line's removal now, so not trying anymore. So frustrating. C'est la vie.

I grab a little bit of everything and shove it in hot rolls xD I call them my nommwiches!
