Loremaster achievement changes coming with Cataclysm

That said, it will be a little bit easier to get those Loremaster achievements come The Shattering. Instead of having one huge quest counter for each continent, patch 4.0.3a will introduce zone-specific quest achievements to the old world, similar to the ones that already exist for Outland and Northrend zones. Once you finish the zone-specific achievements for every zone on a given continent (minus the new Cataclysm zones, of course), you'll have the achievement. Even old-school Loremasters can get in on the action, as the zone quest achievements will still be available for them to complete.
While Zarhym didn't specifically outline it in his post, Loremaster of Cataclysm will be required for future Loremasters as well, although it's not clear whether that will start to be a requirement in patch 4.0.3a or at the launch of Cataclysm itself.

There are no changes or upgrades to the Seeker.

I keep seeing a lot of information about the Loremaster Achievements, but I'm more interested in the title. Right now I have completed Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor and I'm only 16 quests away from Outlands. With about 140 to do in Northrend still, I just don't know if I'll make it before Cata hits. So I would love to know.... will I still get the title if I have to finish Northrend after the expansion?
Josin Nov 22nd 2010 10:01AM
If you have the achievements for Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms, you should be fine, I think.
alpha5099 Nov 22nd 2010 12:14PM
If I understand your question, then the answer is no. If, after Cataclysm is released, you have Loremaster of EK, Kalimdor, and Outland, and then get Northrend, you will not get Loremaster. In Cataclysm, a Loremaster of Cataclysm sub-achievement has been included, so if you haven't earned the title yet you'll need to finish that up too.

Alpha is correct. If you do not get the Loremaster title before, uh, tomorrow, then you will need to wait until level 85. The new Loremaster will require doing the Cataclysm zones.

The title seems a bit misleading, since the Loremaster changes will come with the Shattering, which is tomorrow, and not with Cataclysm, which is still a few weeks off.

Unless there's been some new information put out there, The Shattering MAY be tomorrow. It also may be next Tuesday. Let's not get our hopes up.

From MMO-Champ (and they're pretty good at predicting this sort of thing)
Patch 4.0.3a - The world ends this week on live servers!
Let's confirm this, yes, Patch 4.0.3a will be deployed on live servers this week and will change the world of Azeroth forever. You only have a few hours left to say good bye to the old world (and farm try to get that stupid mount in Zul'gurub) before Deathwing decides that it needs a new look. All the information and the official patch notes are available below.
Get ready for the biggest change you ever witnessed in World of Warcraft, and enjoy!

So happy I finished Loremaster of Kalimdor last night. Just need a few more to go in Outland...
jenks Nov 22nd 2010 10:56AM
Likewise, I made the final push to get Loremaster and got it on Sunday morning at 4:30am, so glad I got done before 4.3a dropped. For those of you still working on it, keep going it is possible, and good luck. :-)

Gotta love a good Jane's Addiction reference.. Nice work, Blizz. :)

I really hope that they add a Feat of Strength for completing all the requirements for Old Loremaster and all the new Zones. Something like the Seeker but make it for 10,000 quests or something of that nature. It would be interesting to come with a title like Grand Loremaster, similar to the FoS "the Insane".
Def Wolf Nov 22nd 2010 10:57AM
lol, my main has over 12k quests completed according to the statistics page. Be my luck I still missed a few ;)
OMG YES! Nov 22nd 2010 1:13PM
Keep in mind that the "quests completed" on the statistics page count each daily quest you do. There are not 12k different quests available, its just that you've done many, many, many dailies.
I like that blizzard distinguishes the difference between daily quests and regular quests with their achievements when it comes to The Seeker and Loremaster. It takes patience, determination, and organization (usually) to track down many of the hard to find/easily missed quests. If that were ever to be nullified by Blizzard allowing daily quests to count for those achievements, I would be greatly disappointed.
Def Wolf Nov 22nd 2010 1:29PM
I figured dailies were part of that, lol. I did get Loremaster last January so that isn't a concern of mine.
I do know when I leveled second mut rogue to 80 last summer just how many of the old quests had been nerfed or eliminated completely from when my main was leveling so long ago. It may have seemed monotonous at times but so many of those really weren't that bad to do the first time. Yes, I am one that thinks they made the game way too easy =(
VioletArrows Nov 22nd 2010 1:50PM
Ugh. I feel like I shot myself in the foot by completing Kalimdor and EK on Saturday. Now I have to do them all over again for every zone AND all the new zones.
And now I don't even want it anymore.
Cyrus Nov 22nd 2010 1:52PM
"That strikes me as largely an illusion of freedom though. I know for a fact that the Old World Loremaster achievements were quite a bit harder to do, and I think that has a lot to do with how much better it is in Outland and Northrend with their zone-specific sub-achievements."
Sort of. On the other hand, sometimes you might want to skip quests, and it's probably much easier to do that now than it will be post-patch (unless they give you plenty of leeway on how many quests are required, far more than they did in Outland and Northrend). For example, it's possible to get the old version of Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms without doing any quests that hurt your reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. Or maybe two or three quests, but it's certainly possible to do the Loremaster while leveling without making too much more work for yourself if you want to get the Bloodsail Admiral achievement. But that probably won't be possible after Cataclysm.

It would be neat if they tied this new system into a new set of titles. Like, if you finish a continent, you can be "Bob of Arathi", or "Bob of Silithus", or "Bob of Mulgore", if you finish a given continent's entire set to completion. That would be a MASSIVE incentive for people to be content complete, based on the number of potential titles for such a system:

I am a bit heart broken atm. I logged on yesterday to find I currently only have 14 quest credited towards eastern kingdoms loremaster...I was 35 away from that loremaster Monday. Please tell me I am going to get credit for more than 14 quest. I am fine with doing more and no getting credit for all i have done prior but 14 out of 665 completed seems like such a lot work for nothing.
hybridmb Nov 24th 2010 4:23PM
I've been working towards the Seeker achievement (3000 quests completed), and logged on yesterday to find I only have 1941- I had about 2550 already done. Join together in petitioning Blizzard to fix this. It's great to have new content, but our work towards the old content should've be pushed aside simply because of sweeping new changes.
