Patch 4.0.3a, The Shattering, likely hitting live servers tomorrow

The Shattering patch will include all the old-world changes coming with Cataclysm, including changes to the Loremaster and Explorer achievements to match, the removal of Zul'Gurub, a reduction in the amount of experience required to level from 70 to 80, and the addition of all of the new race/class combinations. Worgen and goblins will still have to wait for Cataclysm itself, of course. If you don't plan to do any raiding or dailies in Northrend in the next couple weeks on any of your characters, you may also want to move your character to Stormwind or Orgrimmar before the servers go down, as rumor has it that the portals in Dalaran are going away with this patch.

I think its not fair for all those players who earned their Loremaster and Explorer titles before Cata, for those two achivements to stay the same.
So someone who worked hard before to get them will have the same achievements as some new noob who will explore the world A LOT EASIER with his 310% flying mount in Cata.
Blizz just said "screw you guys" to all who worked on Loremaster and Explorer achievements before Cata.
Maribel Nov 22nd 2010 3:58PM
Because Explorer was so very difficult without old-world flight.
Seriously, what? My main is a Loremaster. And yeah, it took patience, but not the "I want to fly over this" kind of patience. Headless murlocs will be as much a problem as they ever were, and being able to fly to them won't change that. (Okay, the headless murlocs may not be, since they were in Southshore...) Two of my alts were Explorers by level 68 or 70.
This just strikes me as a weird thing to nerdrage over.

That's funny, all I hear is 'qqqqqqqqqqqqqqq...

Yay! Can't wait for this to hit the EU realms! :))) Anyone know if all areas (EU, USA, whatever others there are) will be getting this patch at the same time, or if we EUers still need to wait for Wednesday? I'm guessing the latter, but man, one can always hope...
I myself will have to wait out Cata itself for more than a month (can only really get it during christmas), but I'll be busy leveling up a few million new toons! :D

What people are forgetting, mon, is that not ALL da portals are goin'. From Shat you can still portal to Quel'Danas, which is a short hop to Silvermoon for da Horde. An' from Shat and Dal, ya can still go to da Caverns o' Time, which is in Tanaris...
tigglet Nov 22nd 2010 3:07PM
there will be an AH in Dal for non-engineers come the changes, now i have no idea if its on the 7th when cata releases or tomorrow if 4.0.3a comes out tomorrow but it will be there along with the trainers in place of the portals in Dal.
Craig Nov 22nd 2010 3:22PM
I really hope it drops tomorrow...I am so itching to start a Night Elf mage and a Dwarf Shaman and a Dwarf Warlock.
Plus new quests redesigned zones...I can honestly say I am more excited about the Old World 1-60 changes then anything else.
Maribel Nov 22nd 2010 5:01PM
Me too! Tauren pali, troll druid, dwarf shaman, and undead and probably human hunters.
gojou Nov 23rd 2010 3:37AM
@Craig: Let me be the first to refer to him as a Dwarflock!
Malenx Nov 22nd 2010 3:46PM
At least my troll druid is gonna have high level cooking. =)

My boyfriend's working on the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest line and is really feeling the time ticking down. The whole guild is, actually, since we're helping him. XD

"This is almost it," I thought. "It's time to check my characters' hearthstone locations, and reset them."
So I logged into all my characters, checking their hearth locations, and came across my lvl 33 gnome warrior, who still had Southshire quests.
"This is my last chance," I thought, and did those quests quick smart.

Man I have yet to do the battle for undercity. I'm gonna be powering through wrathgate tonight.
Matthew Nov 22nd 2010 4:48PM
I'm scared. Hold me.
Rufio Nov 22nd 2010 5:24PM
How do you recommend we prepare for said insertion?
Covnam Nov 22nd 2010 5:32PM
Would it be correct to assume that 4.03a end the world event?
Sacrilege Nov 22nd 2010 5:47PM
I'm not so sure this will bring the Shattering - theres no mention of downtime for EU servers, and its pretty unlikely that the change would happen at different times for different regions.
Travis Nov 22nd 2010 6:04PM
So I've got a toon sitting at lvl 79 and about half the way to 80. Does this mean I'll long in after the patch and ding?
laurence.hill33 Nov 22nd 2010 6:24PM
Firstly the mantinence is an 8 hour downtime this never happens without a patch dropping and secondly MMO have inside sources thus most reliable and thirdly I quote dirrectly from MMO's most recent site news "Patch 4.0.3a - The world ends this week on live servers!
Let's confirm this, yes, Patch 4.0.3a will be deployed on live servers this week and will change the world of Azeroth forever. You only have a few hours left to say good bye to the old world (and farm try to get that stupid mount in Zul'gurub) before Deathwing decides that it needs a new look. All the information and the official patch notes are available below.
Get ready for the biggest change you ever witnessed in World of Warcraft, and enjoy!"
