Patch 4.0.3a, The Shattering, likely hitting live servers tomorrow

The Shattering patch will include all the old-world changes coming with Cataclysm, including changes to the Loremaster and Explorer achievements to match, the removal of Zul'Gurub, a reduction in the amount of experience required to level from 70 to 80, and the addition of all of the new race/class combinations. Worgen and goblins will still have to wait for Cataclysm itself, of course. If you don't plan to do any raiding or dailies in Northrend in the next couple weeks on any of your characters, you may also want to move your character to Stormwind or Orgrimmar before the servers go down, as rumor has it that the portals in Dalaran are going away with this patch.

Actually the goblin rep tabards* are on PTR so..
Yes we can!
Bilgewater Cartel
Change we can believe in!
*The tabards only work in old world dungeons when I last checked, outland and northend didnt give rep or are intended to do so. Tabards are available to almost everyone. Start making your dedicated rep grind group then. WC gave to 85 3 rep per kill and cata heroic gave 30 per kill with tabard so it scales.

"Misread...though he wanted to get his go-cart before Cata."
Yeah? He said he wanted that. Its still possible. Just get tabard, do quests, do dungeons and get exalted and buy it before cata. No problem.
Oh sorry.. I meant of course.
Actually, you can buy tabard..

Does anyone know if the new system requirements drop along with the Sundering (4.0.3a)? Or do I have until Dec. 7 to upgrade my system?
Scoobydoofus Nov 22nd 2010 11:27AM
I think they were implemented as part of 4.0.1; my system won't let me change many graphics settings since then anyway. It's all stuck on "low" for me. :/
fedorhajdu Nov 22nd 2010 11:30AM
It's not Sundering (it happened long ago), it's Shattering ;)
Also, yes, new system requirements kick in now, obviously, since the world is changing, meaning new visual effects will kick in.
dodgeballer2005 Nov 22nd 2010 11:45AM
And if new visual effects don't kick in, High Overlord Saurfang will roundhouse kick them in!
Wait that's not right...

Did my last Run of ZG last night. No mounts again, so I guess it just wasn't meant to be. But I DID Get Exalted with the Zendralar(sp?) Tribe back on Saturday, so it balances out.
Now to go park my main and alt in SW, and retire my Tauren Shaman to make way for my DWARF SHAMAN OMG SQUEEEEEEEEeeee.... *ahem* to make way for my Dwarf Shamanette. Also need to finish the care package I'm making for her...

EVERYBODY PANIC!!!!
Pyromelter Nov 22nd 2010 11:46AM
You'll be fine.
As long as you have your towel.
Smurk Nov 22nd 2010 2:22PM
STICK TO THE PLAN!
txcroadshow Nov 22nd 2010 11:16AM
Does this include the old world zone changes, or is that going to be on the 7th?
Ryvers Nov 22nd 2010 11:26AM
Yep, old world will be forever changed! You'll be seeing the "didn't purchase Cataclysm yet" experience of the old world.
Budokan Nov 22nd 2010 11:18AM
Does anyone know for certain if we will be able to race change/faction change existing characters into one of the new combinations? Looking foward to leveling a paladin already at 80 as a Tauren and want to know if I can expect to change after this patch hits or if I have to wait for the expansion. Thanks!
Marshal Nov 22nd 2010 11:23AM
You can. On the PTR it allowed us to test out the faction/race changes and I was able to make my Blood Elf into a Tauren Paladin. It's just that the Goblin/Worgen will be greyed out, not selectable.
Klausse Nov 22nd 2010 11:26AM
No - race/faction changes into one of the new combinations won't be allowed until Dec. 7th. So all you 80 Belf Pallies will have to wait until then to switch to Tauren:

mogmoogle99 Nov 22nd 2010 11:18AM
Lame,
Thought they would surprise us with the day, rather then have a Death wing scheduled delivery.
fedorhajdu Nov 22nd 2010 11:32AM
If you want surprises you shouldn't read WoW Insider... rather qq on trade after changes are live that you have no idea what's going on ;)
Rufio Nov 22nd 2010 3:44PM
Fedor is rightm, you'll be suprised how many people will be, well, surprised by all this. I personally am looking forward to the cringe-factor of trade, it's going to be qq-gasmic.
Zayd Nov 22nd 2010 11:18AM
So when's DW showing up to layeth the smack down on us mortals?
I look forawrd to greeting him in Org!
Randy* Nov 22nd 2010 11:18AM
I have to admit that since 4.0.3a hit the PTR, I haven't been on the live servers much. I'm in awe of all the changes. Not all of them are tragic, such as last night, I was in Ashara and helped a female raptor named Nine free some of her offspring from a secret lab (goblins don't know what "secret" means, obviously) and rocket them off to another planet.
The name of the quest? "Nine's Plan." Get it?
Oh, and I love the rocketway around Azshara! Yeeha!
