The Queue: End of the world
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today.
Today's edition of The Queue is one of mourning. My request to change WoW Insider over to Zelda Insider so I could gush about Zelda music all day long was denied. Instead, I will simply embed a YouTube video.
Elmo asked:
Is there any zone you think came out not so well in Cataclysm as far as story/quests?
Arathi Highlands. No doubt. Blizzard barely did anything with it at all. The Alliance is still living in a literal hole in the ground and there's generally nothing interesting going on. In every other old-world zone in Cataclysm, it is extremely obvious that the zones are different as soon as you walk into them. Arathi Highlands ... you walk into that zone and you wonder if Blizzard forgot it was there. It's not great. Even our guest writer who tackled a few Cataclysm zone reviews wasn't able to do anything with Arathi. There's just nothing there.
I also don't much like Hyjal, but every single one of my coworkers here at WoW Insider think I'm insane for that one. Hyjal feels like Generic Night Elf Zone #82,627. Druids and ancients and blah blah blah. It doesn't feel special in any way, just par for the course for Kalimdor. Again, everybody at WoW Insider disagrees with me about Hyjal, so I'm pretty sure every one of you will enjoy it regardless of whether I liked it or not.
McRaider asked:
How do character consume healthstones? Eating them sounds ridiculous because they're ... you know, stones.
Healthstone is just what they're called. They're more like eggs. When you need to use your healthstone, you crack it open and drizzle the sweet, sweet yolk all over yourself and let its curative properties work their slime-like magic.
Gado asked:
The first thing I'm planning on doing Dec. 7 at 12:01 a.m. PST is buy my Old Weather Flying. Where do I go to do that?
There are flight trainers in both Stormwind and Orgrimmar now, near the flight masters. They will sell you Old Weather Flying. Stormwind and Orgrimmar are going to be your primary hubs in Cataclysm, so it's actually very convenient.

Man, that music. *chills*
I am one of those who firmly holds Majora's Mask as the best Zelda game of all time, and atmosphere like that is a big reason for it.
Dailen Nov 22nd 2010 1:08PM
Best part is... I have an addon called Soundtrack that lets you set your own music. That music in particular is my music for Tirisfal Glades. While out killing turkeys for my achievement, an earthquake hit in-game, and I instinctively looked for the moon. X-D

I love it too. I've never understood all the hate it has received over the years. There was so much content smashed into one little game. Perhaps the people who don't like it never went and did all the side quests. Those really added a lot to the game.
Dailen Nov 22nd 2010 1:12PM
Yeah. There are so many awesome tracks from that game that actually really work in-game in WoW, too.
Great Bay Temple in the Steamvaults? Hell yes, sir. That certainly makes farming those blasted naga for Cenarion Expedition rep much more bearable.

Yay! Someone else who liked Majora's Mask. I bought it on the Wii for points last Christmas and fell in love with it all over again.
Deku Link! Epona! Masks! So fun!
Kurei Nov 22nd 2010 1:20PM
This is my first post on WoW Insider.
I post this purely to congratulate Alex Ziebart on choosing this glorious piece of music, which I had all but forgotten, and it fits perfectly for the late-night rompings I'll be doing through the old zones on my warrior while waiting for Cataclysm to hit.
It's gonna be epic.

Majora's Mask- great game.
But OoT is still the best_game_ever =)
JiBJUB Nov 22nd 2010 1:24PM
Oh...Demi-God Link was pretty amazing, though.
Too bad you couldn't play him anytime, anywhere.
Saeadame Nov 22nd 2010 1:24PM
@JiB - lots of people say that, but I just didn't like it as much as Majora's Mask. I don't know why, and everyone I know thinks I'm weird for it. Oh well.
DEKU LINK IS ADORABLE AMG.

Ocarina of Time was a revolutionary game, but for all that it brought to the table, it was still a relatively standard Zelda game in terms of setting and story.
Majora's Mask on the other hand took what OoT had done, and built an incredibly deep atmosphere and story. The game may have been rated E, but it's one of the most emotionally and conceptually "Mature" games that's ever been released. Playing the game as an adult reveals all manner of things I missed when I played the game as a kid.
The little girl who lives alone in her house trying to save her father as he turns into a Gibdo. The Postman who basically has a mental breakdown in his office. The Anju and Kafei questline.
And all of it without the gratuitous sex or violence we might normally associate with "mature" video games. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

That would be awesome to play that tonight as I'm doing my last bit of old world questing.
thegatherer Nov 22nd 2010 1:38PM
Wrong. The best is hands down Twilight Princes. Period.
Gormaggus Nov 22nd 2010 1:39PM
Jesus surreal! I was listening to Majora music on youtube earlier today for completely unrelated reasons and then it pops up in The Queue 0.o
Man that game was just amazing, both gameplay-wise and philosophically.
Wilk Nov 22nd 2010 1:47PM
HEY! Listen!
I'mma let you finish, but Orcarina of Time was the best game of all time!
Of all Time!
Nodonn Nov 22nd 2010 1:48PM
Damn it people I don't have time for this, I've got an exam this friday and I can't afford to have an irresistible urge to play Majora's Mask!
stench Nov 22nd 2010 1:56PM
only links awakening is real
Fox Nov 22nd 2010 1:57PM
Amen to that. Majora's Mask is quite literally my favorite game of all time.
As a night elf, I'm going to set my hearthstone to Auberdine tonight.
And as I stand on the docks, looking out over the dark waters, THIS is the song I'm going to play.
myssiing Nov 22nd 2010 2:26PM
Link's Awakening. Hands down. Ocarina of Time was really good too, and put a new spin into the game play as far as the Zelda games are concerned. Storyline-wise, though, Link's Awakening really overpowers any of the other Zelda's. Don't get me wrong, I love all of them (as proved by the tattoo I have on my back), but LA was the best of them all.
Minos Nov 22nd 2010 2:28PM
Saeadame, I hope the Wii version is improved from the one that was on the Gamecube collector's disc. It kept freezing on me, usually on the third day.
murmaiderxx Nov 22nd 2010 2:47PM
I'm surprised no one had said it yet, but A Link to the Past is the best Zelda game of all time.
OF ALL TIME.
