It's almost Christmas and end of year clearance too, so good time to buy one. I got a 1300 retail machine for about 800 and even though it was steep I've never regretted it. I tested many machines before I decided to extend my price range from 250-400 to 500+ and it was definitely for the best. If you're sewing tricky fabrics like leather, fur, etc, and plan to sew for life, do yourself a favor and save up the extra so you never have to buy another machine.
