The Queue: Where am I going to wake up today?

This Queue is going to deal, in part, with questions many people have asked over the last few months, some that we haven't always had answers for. But we do have an answer for this first question, thanks to a few Blizzard statements this week.
So many people have asked:
Where am I going to wake up today?
Recently, Blizzard has come out a few times and said that you'll appear at the graveyard nearest to the location where you logged out. So if you logged out in Stormwind, like yours truly did, then you'll show up in the Elwynn Forest graveyard to the south of the Stormwind gates.
So many people have asked:
How much time has passed between Wrath and The Shattering?
As best we can reckon, it's a few years, given Anduin's aging. We should have a Know Your Lore or another one-off piece explaining this. And yes, this means a few years have passed since your character went to sleep last night.
Nethaera said today, "Months into the future? Not quite." I really don't know how to read that -- either as more than a few months, which makes a ton of sense, or less than a few months, which makes no sense. After all, Anduin went from a boy to a teenager -- that happens in a few years' time.
So many people have asked:
Is there going to be another big patch to download on Dec. 7 when Cataclysm is finally released?
There will likely not be another big patch. It's entirely possible -- indeed, likely -- that there will be one or two minor patches between now and then, but the data for Cataclysm's new zones and stuff is already here. The endgame stuff just isn't accessible yet.
So many people have asked:
My friend said that you can fly in Azeroth starting today! ZOMG!
Your friend is wrong. There is so much confusion over what is and isn't in this patch that it's best either to read a detailed list of what's available in the The Shattering and what you have to wait for until Dec. 7. Read the list we published earlier today!

You may not be able to Awaken in Razor Hill like you wanted, but you WILL be able to go see Tednug and his loyal companion Scratchfever once servers are up. :)
Blizzard has added them into the game: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=40970
As a guildie of Dusk's, I can say he's VERY excited.

I saw that recently, I thought it was great! Good move by Bliz to include their community in the game.

If I remember right from what I've seen from screen shots and footage of the new Stormwind, there is a graveyard inside the city walls now. Chances are, those of us who logged off while in Stormwind may find ourselves in this new graveyard.

That's awesome! I only found Razor Hill last week, but I LOVE it. I'm glad to hear Blizzard put a little homage in. :D

I just logged out in Tanaris, as far to the south-west as I could get. Crossing my fingers to get a glimpse of an Uldum graveyard when I log in. :)

I've set my hearth to the thousand needles, when I log in I'm putting card across my screen, hearthing to the inn, and then walking outside to see what's what :D
Btw Europe here, sad panda :/
Curse you Americans and your futureyness!
penguinairsauce Nov 23rd 2010 1:05PM
...and in the EU, we have to wait until tomorrow :(
Piisuke Nov 23rd 2010 1:16PM
With the amount of delays US servers keep getting before they log in, you really are not missing much. Let's rather hope us EU players do not have the same hassle. I think they were still working on installing the patch at 3pm GMT, if not later. At least, for some servers anyway.

We generally don't get online until after 5pm. But that's cool, I don't finish work till then anyway :D

Are Sunwalker quests available only to Tauern Paladins or is it possible for my Blood Elf Paladin to soak up some Sunwalker lore?
Also, stamina is nice but my healers have been doing fine without me stacking only stamina. That said what's better for a tank in battle: Stomp or Arcane torrent?
bloodfyr Nov 23rd 2010 1:11PM
Tauren Paladins aren't the same kind of paladins that Belf and Dwarf and Humans etc are. They have a completely different belief system and don't draw from The Light (or the various variations thereof). They're the same for gameplay reasons, but they're very different lore-wise.
Belf paladins already have their lore and their belief system and their organization.

stomp affects everyone - has a cast time that is miniscule.
arcane torrent affects magic users but is instant. You don't get too much mana from this for it to be a deal breaker
as you may know, pallies have alot of stuns. stomp would be another.
arcane torrent, is, i believe the only 'silence'
given they are cooldowns, I would say 'go with what you want' - no harm to either.
(note that other racials like belfs being more resistant to magic and taurens being meatier might sway you one way or the other)
Hope this helps - I'd been doing the same thinking. And I'm going with the class I want to see more of, rather than the racial thingy.

Are you referring to live or beta? If you're referring to live, I assume you're referring to a geared-out max level 80 with geared-out max level 80 healers? 80-85 should be a different beast than 80 currently is.
Vaeku Nov 23rd 2010 1:34PM
What Sunwalker quests? They took out all class quests in the last patch...

"as you may know, pallies have alot of stuns. stomp would be another."
By "a lot" you mean must mean "two." Our main stun, hammer of justice, is on a one minute timer, untalented, and our other, holy wrath, is a short AoE stun but only affects certain mobs, and not players at all. So stomp would actually be pretty helpful, and I suspect Tauren will be very tempting for those planning to roll prot in particular.
Ret also has repentance, though it is more like a charm or ranged sap, not a stun (i.e. it breaks on damage).
