Breakfast Topic: Varian Wrynn doesn't care about Menethil people

Personally, I found myself transfixed to the wreckage in Menethil. It felt like the disaster was actively happening around me, even though the world inside the game is probably a couple of months removed from the actual act of the shattering. There are an awful lot of sand bags around, but they don't seem to be helping much. All I can say is that Varian Wrynn is going to have a heck of a time winning the Wetlands' electoral votes in 2012.
Have you had time to survey the carnage yourself? Which zone's treatment have you enjoyed the most? What do you think of the new world you find yourself in?

Bet Jaina's pissed. If my wife came home and found a mess like that, Deathwing himself would pee is pants and better head straight for Outlands cause he ain't got shit on her if there was a "Shattering" in my house.....

(Jaina is in Theramore, not Menethil harbour, btw)

Oh, you are correct lol. I always get those places mixed up cause of the boats. I haven't been recently, how are things there?
Faith-lb Nov 24th 2010 9:33AM
Guess it's ok , because Menethil Harbor connects to Theramore ?? lol

Menethil Harbor is in the Wetlands and Wetlands is part of the Dwarven Kingdom of Khaz Modan.

I've been busy leveling using the dungeon finder (got my 3rd 80 today), so I haven't had long to look around, but I did take a flight from Darnassus to Feralas today, so i could get my boat in 1000 needles. It's a ~10 min flight, so I'd usually go make myself a sandwich or something, but I couldn't leave the computer because of all the changes everywhere.

Speaking of the Dungeon Finder, my girlfriend and I were playing our early 50's alts last night and were pleased to find at least 8-10 quests in BRD and 10+ in Stratholme that had all been added. I then learned (apparently I wasn't keeping up with things before the patch) that Blizz had added a few thousand new quests to the old world.
AWESOME!!!!

On the one hand, the alliance got shafted because SW didnt get the cool major overhaul that Org did.
On the other hand, the horde got shafted because Org is unrecognizable, unlike SW.
Im still not sure what hand i like better....
Kylenne Nov 24th 2010 8:29AM
Org is only unrecognizable post-Shattering to people who've only ever seen it on For the Alliance raids, or people who've never actually been there in the first place. It has the same basic layout as it did before, only with an extra level and actual sturdy buildings with some design to them now instead of the crude collection of huts and hovels constructed out of lincoln logs and animal skins. It just feels slightly bigger because much better use has been made of the real estate than previously.
Only a fool would think the Horde got shafted by any of this. Horde should be thrilled, because we finally have a main city to be proud of.
MikeLive Nov 24th 2010 8:35AM
See my post below. Horde didn't get shafted, far from it, they got favoured.
Darky Nov 24th 2010 8:48AM
@Kyl
Are you kidding? It took me way too long to find the Zeppelins.
On another note same layout =/= recognisable, similar, but still not recognisable.
Sinnh Nov 24th 2010 8:52AM
Sigh, i hate being that person but best nip this here: its a joke, i was joking, was meant only to point out how the major cities changed (org: flashy, awesome, complete overhaul; sw: slick, sexy, traditional with a twist).
ButcheredCow Nov 24th 2010 10:44AM
@darky: Ask a guard next time.

Truth be told, Stormwind hardly needs a make-over. Blizzard clearly put more time and effort into Stormwind than any other city in the game. Not trying to start a "who Blizzard likes more" flame war here, just stating what I think it a pretty unmistakable observation.
Saitenyo Nov 24th 2010 3:03PM
@Kylenne No, as someone who played strictly horde for most of my WoW years, I found it very hard to navigate as well. Everything looks pretty dramatically different and the sheer amount of texture on everything makes it a tad visually overwhelming at first.
I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but it's not unreasonable for people to be a bit confused right now, and it's certainly not just people who are used to playing Alliance.
Mayhew Nov 24th 2010 4:01PM
I'm not sure if I'm looking at the same Stormwind that the rest of you are looking at. The one I'm looking at is absolutely *gorgeous*. Also, it has had several significant changes made to it. The old bank and auction house have been completely changed, and they look far better now. A whole new bank and auction house have been added to the dwarven district. The warrior and rogue training areas are now significantly different, and they look much better. There have been multiple whole new regions added to the city, both behind the cathedral (and even beyond that cemetery) and beyond the smoking crater where the park used to be. The Stormwind Keep looks a lot better than it used to, and the overall polish of the whole city has increased exponentially. The ground textures look amazing, point-source lights have been added to all of the streetlights and most of the building windows... It just looks astounding. I think that anyone who thinks Stormwind didn't get a makeover needs to look again.
Props to Blizzard for this. It looks stunning.

I would personally prefer SW not to be destroyed and rebuilt.
There are a ton of additions to SW. It didn't get screwed.
If you just walk in, and look around, and go "I don't see much", that's because you didn't actually look around.
Many buildings were redesigned and some were a little moved. Just because the basic layout is still the same, doesn't mean it's not upgraded.
MsJamie Nov 26th 2010 9:33PM
The Horde rebuilt Orgrimmar overnight. The Alliance took six years to rebuild a bridge...
LB Nov 24th 2010 8:14AM
Aren't there more dwarves there anyway? And in that case, shouldn't it be the council's problem?
themightysven Nov 24th 2010 9:40AM
I, for one, blame the night elves. Shouldn't they druid up a solution?
