The Classifieds: Raegwyn solos Kael'thas Sunstrider
The video takes place at ludicrous speed. You get a great idea of Raegwyn's technique as he maneuvers the kills. While the death knight clearly has some advantages over old raiders when the content was contemporary, this is the only solo kill of Sunstrider I can recall seeing. It's really quite the testament to Raegwyn's skill. Make sure you check out our feature interview of the solo artist to get more information.

Unnamed Warrior I had been farming Princess for almost every invasion for two days trying to get a shield. Depressed over the way RNG seemed to scorn me, I decided to go for one more try before giving up. And I tied the warrior on the roll. The RNG automatically gave it to the warrior who promptly opened a trade window. "You need this more than I do." I nearly cried with joy at his kindness on top of what had been a Really Bad Day. -- Twila of UldamanCommunity news

Raegwyn did that on the beta, not live. Probably in full pre-made T11. You didn't mention it either way, but I think it should be said.
(cutaia) Nov 24th 2010 4:13PM
I thought that looked like T11. Thanks for confirming. Still pretty neat, though.
Kaphik Nov 24th 2010 4:30PM
Well, 15 levels, Cataclysm raid gear and mechanics makes a much bigger difference than if he had done it at 80 before 4.0. :)
wow Nov 24th 2010 4:57PM
Just goes to show how terrible wowinsider is. He clearly posts that info under the video, so you have to assume our friend Michael blindly posted the link for the page hits.
Killerchronic Nov 24th 2010 5:17PM
@Kaphik I dunno what version of cata your getitng, the rest of us only get 5 new levels ;)
JC_Icefox Nov 24th 2010 7:21PM
Kael'Thas Setbackstrider was a level 70 encounter. His observation of a 15 level difference is correct.
Also, anti-Wowblog trolls are some of the laziest sacks of crap in the universe. Pageviews is your best comeback argument? The Sauce is Weak with this one.
TxAg Nov 24th 2010 5:31PM
TK was level 70 content which Raegwyn solo'd at level 85 thus 15 levels difference.
Xues Nov 24th 2010 5:33PM
He means 15 levels above what the intended level was for Kael.
Meiji Nov 24th 2010 7:22PM
Yeah, if you turn it onto the hi-def version of the video and go full-screen, you can see that he has abotu 119k health. I was pretty blown away until I checked that..I'm not sure if it would be easy with a geared 85 or not, but it was definitely less impressive.
flint Nov 25th 2010 9:49AM
It's still pretty crazy. And 119k health is VERY possible to get, even before t11. I made a premade paladin on Beta just to try out healing on him, and I made a prot spec for him. In t11 with no buffs or enchants, I had 140k health in prot gear.
The health makes it a lot easier to cheese the mechanics. Things like kiting Theradred, interrupting Pyroblasts, etc. But it was still impressive, I think.
Danterius Nov 25th 2010 10:19AM
Not sure how it's less impressive when the fight reportedly took Raegwyn 5 HOURS! Yeah, that's a long time...
Don't worry, most of us won't be solo'ing Kael'thas until level 90. :P

What's the addon that scrolls buffs/debuffs around the character?
I've seen it in a few videos, and I'd figured it was related to IceHud, and downloaded that, but while it has the health/mana bars, etc they're not shown in this video, so I assuming he doesn't have IceHud and thus it's from a different mod.
Anyone know?
Zan Nov 24th 2010 4:25PM
I haven't watched the video, but from the screenshot attached, it looks to me like Satrina Buff Frames (SBF) - http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/satrina-buff-frame.aspx
I use it and love it, good stuff.
DaShiVa01 Nov 24th 2010 4:41PM
@Zan: I checked out the curse link, then the wowinterface, then the evilempireguild site for it, and while it looks pretty flexible, I cant easily find anything on how it would be set up to flow around the character like it does in the video. If I'm wrong, someone please direct me to where it tells me how to achieve this, or is it actually a different addon?
Cinnamilk Nov 24th 2010 4:45PM
I think it's Mik's Scrolling Battle Text, or MSBT
Wonderful addon.
t0xic Nov 24th 2010 4:53PM
Try Mik's Scrolling Combat Text..
I also recommend OmniCC for cooldowns.
Zan Nov 24th 2010 5:10PM
@DaShiVa01 - Ah, after watching the video, I think I understand the confusion - if you are talking about the bars that show up and empty towards the left, that's SBF.
If you are talking about the pure text that flows around him, that appears to be some sort of Scrolling Combat Text mod. I'm not sure if this does what that one is doing (at work, or I'd check) but this is what I use - http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/scrolling-combat-text.aspx
Hopefully that'll get you pointed in a better direction..

The guide for SBF is here. Somewhat complicated, but worth the effort if you have a lot of buffs to monitor.

Since 4.0.3a went alive, buffs have become more strictly, mutually exclusive. To make it even harsher for solo'ers, self-healing abilities are nerfed quite a bit. Previously, with a Nelf Hunter in 264 gears, I could definitely down Moroes within 2-3 tries. But yesterday, it was impossible to race with his Garrote.
Another thing I noticed (or I neglected before?) was mobs in lvl60 raid didn't drop gold/silver/coppers, if I solo them at lvl80. Not even bosses dropped gold. I was trying to get richer last night in Molten Core. Although the bosses did drop items as before, I was surprised that I rarely heard 'Ka-Ching', if at all. If it's not a bug, I guess it's Blizz's way to discourage soloing old content.
