The Queue: Shattering is over, time to go home

Today is a very special edition of The Queue, ladies and gentlemen. I believe it's the first one ever written on an iPhone. The Shattering delayed my daily walk, so time for both had to be found. Enjoy!
primal.geek asked:
Why, after the Shattering, do Dalaran mobs near the crater still feel the need to attack me? Sure, I'm a member of the Horde, but I'm also exalted with their city. Can't they give me a break for once?
Well, member of the Horde, I'm sure the citizens of Dalaran near the crater would love to give you a break ... as soon as the Horde reciprocates. The Horde has been killing those guys from vanilla WoW all the way up through Wrath and have never actually stopped. Go run a character through Silverpine Forest right now, post-Shattering. The faction of Dalaran left in the Eastern Kingdoms is still completely at war with the Horde. Of all the neighbors to have, Sylvanas is the worst. Garrosh might not even be as aggressive as she can be.
masteroaktree asked:
What exactly is that metal lower jaw on Deathwing? Is it a plate of armor or is a replacement jaw because his fell off?
All of that armor on Deathwing is there to hold him together. The amount of power he's taken in from outside sources like the Demon Soul and the Old Gods is quite literally tearing him apart. The bands of metal riveted to his flesh certainly work like armor, but they're there to hold his body together. He is bristling with so much power that if he weren't tethered together by metal freaking plates, he would be rent to pieces.
Cern asked:
So who else will be rolling a tauren paladin today?
Not me! I threw the decision of what I'd roll first to Twitter and they decided dwarven shaman. I don't actually like dwarves and I already have a level 80 shaman, but what the people want is what the people get.
Many readers complained:
Dang, I wanted to run Molten Core and Blackwing Lair one more time before the Shattering! I can't believe I missed my last chance to see the classic raids!
Whoa there, folks. Not all of the classic raids went away with patch 4.0.3a. Only Zul'Gurub was removed in this patch. Every other classic raid is sticking around for Cataclysm! You didn't lose out on your chance to run those raids at all. Which is good, because my paladin has been soloing Molten Core for approximately an eternity and hasn't seen either Binding for Thunderfury.
Stupid, fiery jerks.

Maybe I've not found them yet, but is there any easy way to get from SW to Darn without using a boat? (Or a mage portal?)
Hyacintha Nov 24th 2010 1:16PM
The boat is pretty darn easy. It goes right to Rut'Theran Village now, and you just have to run up the hill through the purple portal.
Lipstick Nov 24th 2010 1:21PM
We're not able to swim across oceans my friend, the game simply doesn't let us. So your only options are via boat, or by mage portal.
Also -- for those who are curious.
Exodar and Darn are linked by portals available near their respective mage trainers (right next to the blasted lands portal).
Teldrassil has 3 different docks now -- the one that is to your left as you come through the pink portal leaving darn leads to what I believe will eventually be Gilneas -- the one straight ahead -- leads to stormwind and the one on your far right leads to azuremyst isle (the space goat/exodar region).
Once in storm wind, you can reach IF by taking the portal to the Tram in the dwarven district.

@lipstick
Thanks. I did not know all that. That's will save some leg work for alts. :)

Eeeyup. Runed Band of the Kirin Tor.
Kharon Nov 24th 2010 1:50PM
Any way for me on Horde side to get to Azuremyst for Pilgrim's Peril?
Yesterday I was able to run from Lor'Danel to Rut'theran thanks to a Shaman who was working on the same thing, because the boat never, ever, appeared -- and the lvl 85 guards ate us.
So, how can I get to Azuremyst or, by defect, to Rut'theran?
Thanks in advance!

@dugmet
Ayyyup. Your Runed Band of the Kirin Tor will do you a ton of good when you're stranded in tumbleweed ridden city of Dalaran without a portal to Darnassus, which is where the OP wants to go.
;)

Also nice that they FINALLY connected the Exodar and the rest of its islands to the rest of the world via flight path.
Fenrix Nov 24th 2010 2:27PM
Can we have Captain Placeholder back? I did not miss having to catch boats in order to play.
KT Nov 24th 2010 3:26PM
As far as I can tell, Horde players have to catch the boat from Stormwind to Rutha'ran in order to go to both Darnassus or the Exodar -- which was a real pain for me this morning, as the city guards are now 85 and can tear you up. Sigh.
Pentyn Nov 24th 2010 3:38PM
Does the boat that goes to "what will eventually be gilneas" work now? Will we be able to get to Gilneas Ruins? I have a baby hunter and i want to get a mastiff, and it seems to be the lowest level area to train them. :)

Is there anyway to cross the waters in Darkshore to get to Teldrassil? Or am I going to have to wait til I am level 85 to be able to hop on a boat to get there? I was so close to getting explorer of Kalimdor, I just need those 3 islands now!
deanspeedway Nov 24th 2010 4:29PM
This is how I did it:
You can acutally water walk from Darkshore to Ruthan (sic) village and end up near the portal to Darnassus proper. You need to swim/walk out to the most north-western point of Darkshore sea before you start getting hit by fatigue (just check on your world map).
Then use your shammy/DK waterwalking ability or pop a potion of waterwalking and run in a straight line towards the village. With the potion you can also mount up. On a mount you should be able to make it to shore with about 20-30 secs left on the fatigue so make sure you head in a direct line. You'll still have to content with a lot of level 85 guards with large aggro radii. So be careful.
Just make sure you get through that portal to Darnassus then you can spirit rez in the GY on the Darnassus side if you get killed in the city. Once rezzed you can skirt around most of the guards to get to the table.
If you die in Ruthan village you rez back in Darkshore. If you run across the water from the same point I described above your ghost won't die of fatigue on the ocean, but if you go less directly it will fatigue out and die again.
You can get on the boat to Exodar once you get back out. If you swim around the jetty for the Exodar boat there are only 2 guards to avoid. I CC'd them and ran for the boat. By the time I got on the boat they had un-aggroed. From what I could see, there was only a boat to Stormwind and Exodar from Teldrassil Isle, the Darkshore one is removed.
I hope this helped!
Ez Nov 24th 2010 7:38PM
Do they still have portals in Shattrath? Didn't have time to check last nite.
Tbah Nov 24th 2010 11:59PM
The boat nevere goes to Gilneas. It only arrives from there. It's a one-way trip, you know. Or you don't. Roll a worgen, play the starting experience and you will.
Regardless, the boat won't go to Gilneas.

Much as I miss the Zul'Gurub raid, it's pretty cool to see the entire thing converted into normal outdoor map.
I wish I had a pithy question to ask, but I've been busy.
Fenrix Nov 24th 2010 3:13PM
Since you're busy, here's one for you.
Are they adding a gold sink multi-person flying mount? The only ones I see are the alchemy-only one and the RAF mount. I would expect that there be a 50k gold mount available somewhere.
This would be darn useful for leveling through the Cata content with my wife.
Alyssa Nov 24th 2010 4:06PM
they have not said anything about any other 2 person flying mounts but with the orignal game at 5$ now is the best time to recruit yourself, this is what me and my finacee did.
Josin Nov 24th 2010 4:09PM
Don't you still have to pay for 2 months to get the rocket?
