Breakfast Topic: Thankful

On the nerdy side of things, we lost a lot in World of Warcraft in the past few days. The Shattering took a lot of our old-world nostalgia and focus and replaced it with the beginnings of Cataclysm and a whole new experience. I'm pretty damn thankful to Blizzard for creating essentially World of Warcraft 2 without making us all switch over to some new world and splitting the playerbase.
On the less nerdy side of things, here in the real world, I'm very thankful for the very fact that I get to type these words into this text editor and hit "post." I'm incredibly thankful that I have the opportunity to work with WoW Insider and talk to so many fans and WoW enthusiasts. Above all, I'm thankful for your comments and discussions and how incredibly wonderful you all make me feel with supportive emails and feedback. I'm thankful that you enjoy my writing and my ramblings on the WoW Insider Show. So thank you all.
What are you guys thankful for this year? You don't have to be from the United States to get in on this sap train.

I'm thankful that while my lovely wife may not be a fan of video games nor does she have any desire to learn, she understands my addiction and let's me spend all night killing imaginary monsters with my guild. Love you honey.

Pretty much this. Also, I am thankful for when I take my head phones off in a tiny fit of rage my wife asks "wipe again?"

You are damn right about WoW 2^^ I started playing an Undead Rogue yesterday, which is the same class/character combo I picked six years ago.
What can I say? It's a different game.
And it is AWESOME!
Also, thank you for the great blogging on this site. You guys are awesome!

*Cell phone rings early thanksgiving morning*
Administrator: "Rise to meet your masters call!"
Me: "Too soon...too soon you have awakened me.."
*Gets dressed and drives to the office*
Me: "Why have you summoned me here? TRIFLING GNOME, YOUR ARROGANCE WILL BE YOUR UNDOING!""
Administrator: "Your heart will explode!"
Administrator: "Closer..come closer...--and burn!"
*has lab reports thrown at him*
Me: "This betrayal shall not go unpunished!"
Administrator: "You shall be compensated for your efforts...BLOOD AND GLORY! LOK'TAR OGAR"
Me: *Grin* "I got what YOU need!" -runs off to complete the labs-
*cough* What I meant to say was, me too.
:P

I'm thankful for the shattering. I've just got my 3rd 80, & so a new alt is in order, for when I get bored of badge farming. Deathwing, feel free to destroy zones more often if it means quest revamps.
Happy thanksgiving to the Americans, too.

I'm thankful that I get to come back to the states to see my family for a bit over the holidays.
Also that I will be able to play Cataclysm for a month! Woot!
Swifteye Nov 25th 2010 8:16AM
I'm thankful that Blizz lowered the cost of WotLK to $10... no matter how temporary it may be, it was cheap long enough for my boyfriend to get it!
He's been stuck in BC and an on-again, off-again WoWer for as long as I've played... he had *considered* coming back yet again for Cataclysm, but having to pay $40 for WotLK *and* $40 for Cata was seriously turning him off. He couldn't resist the $10 WotLK, though!
Thanks Blizz! We made a rockin' Prot Warrior/Disc Priest team with great communication and tons of insta-queues; I'm so happy I get to play WoW with him again now! ^_^

I'm thankful for my family. I love them dearly and just seeing them makes all the crap in this world take a backseat. Family is what's important.
As it pertains to WoW, I am seriously thankful for this website. I come to it everyday, many, many times a day. And even though I don't talk to any of you personally, I consider you all my friends and I get to look cool to my WoW friends who don't frequent this site by telling them what you tell me, news wise, about this game we love and play.
Also, I can play your podcasts in the car with my wife, which makes her want to sleep, ergo, I don't have to talk to her on long drives. Thanks guys, for a wonderful site. You make playing WoW that much more enjoyable.

I'm thankful for being an American! And to all the people in the armed forces protecting this great country that I feel so lucky to be living in. USA! USA! USA!
Groth Nov 25th 2010 8:55AM
Strange, I'm thankful I'm NOT an American.
Saeadame Nov 25th 2010 9:51AM
@groth - bad form dude. I'm not an American personally, but a little patriotism isn't a big deal. All the Canadian troups from my city will be home for Christmas, I heard, which I think is great. Obviously, our thanksgiving was a month ago. Mmmmm... turkey... which is no longer in my tummy.
Groth Nov 25th 2010 10:45AM
I've nothing against patriotism, I'm happy to be British.
I'm also genuinely happy not to be American. I've nothing against the people who live in America personally, but I find a large proportion of the official 'American values' to be double sided and false- hence, I am thankful that I'm not American and represented by such an image.
I am also thankful that I'm physically fully capable (having spent half the year unable to make that statement). I have nothing against those who aren't. I find it amusing that people take this personally.
Just because not everyone wants to be like you does not mean that there's anything wrong with either party. The response exemplifies my original.
