I think the point of giving Wild Mushroom a cast time is the same reason wands have a .5 second cast time; so you can't use it while moving, you have to stand still for a bit if you want to use it. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing I don't know enough about Balance to say.

that was his whole point, they have a cast time, that is so short it makes them phenomenally awkward to use, but they are balanced as if they were an instant cast, like say ice lance. With the nerf from 10 yard to 3 yard radius and the snare from 70 to what is it now, 40%? Its a spell without a clear purpose. The only application i could think of for them is as a tank to get some bonus snap threat, but you can't detonate them in bear form, and they no longer auto-detonate, so i guess im' really just at a loss for what the spell is supposed to be for.

The short cast time makes me think of hunter traps, which also used to be set up that way so they couldn't be used on the move. Seems like Blizzard doesn't yet have a clear vision of what Wild Mushroom is for.
