On a more serious note, I think one of the best parts of Solar Beam in PvP right now is that people simply aren't used to it. Although we've been taught to avoid standing in circles, a bright shaft a light doesn't look particularly harmful. In addition to the silence effect that persists while the target remains under the AoE, I find that Solar Beam generally buys me a few seconds where the enemy is too stunned to realize that they need to move.
