Well, I don't know about you, but Shadowmeld has saved my chicken's hindfeathers a lot of times and thus contributed to its dps by - you know - keeping it alive.

Absolutely. One of the things that people seem to forget all the time is, "dead dps is no dps". The tauren stomp has come in very handy, and shadowmeld... oh man, where do I start? (Memories of a PUG pulling everything in Hellfire Ramps, me backing into the corner as the inevitable wipe begins, fading into the shadows... and rezzing everyone afterward. Good times.)
As a hybrid/utility class, I don't mind doing lower dps to start with. I can buff, heal, raid heal, rez, combat rez, interrupt, silence, and root ~ and my moonkin form adds another buff. Not to argue with Tyler or anyone else, but personally (and this is just me, personally), if you're trying to squeeze every last drop of dps from a moonkin by looking at *racials*, you might be happier with another class.
