WRUP: My god, it's full of alts

As most of our regular readers have already noticed, the USA's Thanksgiving has slowed WoW Insider down significantly. Many members of our staff are off in strange, unknown locations with friends and family. Some of them don't even have access to the magical portal we know as the internet. Can you imagine that? Tough, I know.
Those of us still here have had our interest in WoW renewed thanks to the world changes introduced in patch 4.0.3a. In addition to asking the staff what they're up to this weekend for this week's WRUP, they were asked to include a screenshot of any of the new race/class combos they might be playing. I encourage you to do the same, dear readers!
Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart): For a while there, WoW ended up pretty low on my list of leisure activities. The live realms had just stagnated so much over the last few months that I didn't want to log in at all. The Shattering changed that, thankfully! I'll be spending my time leveling a dwarven enhancement shaman. She's pretty cool so far, and I don't even like dwarves.
Chase Christian (@madsushi): Eating a lot and going to finish building my new dream PC this weekend. Here's a picture of my new tauren paladin!
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb): I'm using the extra long holiday weekend to catch up on a lot of personal writing. Also, since I didn't quite finish Loremaster of Kalimdor before the patch, I'm using my pre-Cataclysm time to get a head start on it again, and I have to say, Darkshore is just plain depressing. The Alliance just can't catch a break this expansion, can they? Also, here is a picture of Telana, my gnome priestess. She's low level, but she survived years in Gnomeregan dodging leper gnomes and troggs without succumbing to radiation sickness, so she's still a huge badass.
Dan O'Halloran: Recovering from the flu. Which gives me lots of time for my new dwarf shaman.
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives): Like a faithless hound dog, I return slinking to the legs of my master, World of Warcraft. I rolled a troll druid and am having great fun with all the quests, enough so that I think I'm just going to keep to Kalimdor on this character and save the Eastern Kingdoms for my goblin hunter. Here is my newbie, Melphomene of Medivh.
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj): World of Warcraft is back to dominating my play time for two reasons. First, I'm absolutely in love with my prot paladin. Seriously, I love tanking on her. I've been chain running dungeons left and right and just having a blast. Second reason, I am going through and doing all the lower-level quests on Lodur. Even now, all the new quests are just so much fun, and I find myself enjoying them quite a bit. Also, Lodur is hitting the battlegrounds still. Nothing says "I love you" like a dwarf shaman clad in full PvP gear with a legendary mace riding a raptor at the middle of a huge pack of Alliance! Have I mentioned I love being a dwarf shaman?
Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra): I've fallen in love all over again with The Shattering! I'm going to roll a tauren pally, but my server is full of them, so I'm waiting a few days to roll her. The first thing I did after logging on was rush to Thunder Bluff. I choked up a bit seeing Baine there, but Cadi has sworn loyalty to her new chief.
Lisa Poisso (@emused): I hope I'll be enjoying some time to play with my husband, but he's having some sort of OS conflict problem, so our duo might be sidelined after all. So maybe I'll get to ... raise my fishing?
Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo): Lots of writing, Shattering stuff, working out some video streaming stuff for some live stuff, and probably building an Ikea bookshelf. Also, more Dance Central. Always Dance Central. I made an undead hunter and I'm having a blast with the class and the leveling.
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel): I'll be playing alts all weekend long. Meet Robinemic, the Forsaken huntress.
Tyler Caraway (murmursofadruid): I'll be snagging what play time I can as I prepare to deal with the after-Thanksgiving rush at work. Thankfully, I only work in grocery and not retail, or I wouldn't be able to survive the holiday season. Aside from that, it's trying to score another H LK kill on Sunday and pushing my mage those last few levels to 80.
Zach Yonzon (@battlemasters): Undead hunter. That is all.

My Dwarf Clan is complete! I race changed my shaman, and created a mage and warlock. Got the warlock even with my husband's shaman, now just leveling the mage while I wait for him to complete the Pilgrim cooking quests.

I'm leveling a Gnome Priest, and it's true that things aren't going well for the Alliance. I just got done going through Westfall Redridge, Southern Barrens, and Western Plague Lands, and I'm just about ready to kill myself. The only remotely cheerful place I've done is Duskwood.

Race changed my shaman to dwarf, as I had always intended, and it is good. Working on grinding Mag'har rep on my belf disc priest who I got to Outland a day or two ahead of the destruction of the old world, but upon learning that Dark Archangel's wings are, indeed, dark, I had to roll a nelf spriest. She's been levelling her way south from Teldrassil to Darkshore to Ashenvale to Stonetalon to Desolace, where she is currently.
Darkshore isn't that depressing - after all, you *win* against the Horde-backed Shatterspear trolls and the Twilight's Hammer, and you get to build a house for murlocs! Ashenvale is annoying - it seems that you're rushing from crisis to crisis and don't actually affect the situation much, except that it would all turn to custard if you weren't shoring up the defenses. Night elves are bad at attrition and siege warfare.
Stonetalon is So. Much. Fun. Sure, like Ashenvale it's all-out war against a rapacious and atrocity-prone foe, but I was having so much fun I didn't really care. Desolace is much quieter than any of the preceding zones, it feels more like vanilla. I'm looking forward to seeing Feralas, it was one of my favourite zones in vanilla.

I missed my dwarf rogue on another realm, so I picked up a Forsaken one on Ravenholdt US. The new quests are just...awesome.
BRB, punching dragons in the face.

I feel sorry for those of you whose live realms were dead. I have played everyday in the last month and have noticed zero drop off in activity on my realm.
In fact, I have never been busier the last two months finishing my bucket list.
Wish I had one more week before Cata to get it all done.
Aurilia Nov 27th 2010 3:40PM
Rolled a BElf Warrior myself, skipped past the BElf starting area and went straight to Tirisfal Glades to experience the new quests, especially Silverpine and Hillbrad.

I'm leveling a Tauren Pally-my first ever healer-and tonight, depending on attendance, my guild is making its final ICC run before Cata (We're goofing off next week, might do an Ulduar achievement run since we got to Uld late and never really finished the place.) If we don't go to ICC, guess it'll be the pally tonight.

I love the 2001 reference! One of my favorite quotes.

I briefly thought about switching my pally to a Draenei for the mount, but quickly regained my sanity.
Andrew Nov 27th 2010 4:20PM
Dwarf Shammy. Best things so far:
1. Hoboair
2. "Curse your sudden though inevitable betrayal."
3. Guy in Westfall kept looking but couldn't find Two-shoed Lou's house in the mine. Ha! Remember kiddies, always read your quest text.

I race changed my draenei priest to gnome, and have been busily snagging the new little pets! So far I have Mr. Grubbs, Whithers, and the little Flamefly. Last up, the sunflower!! I have not played the plants vs zombies game so I'm sure I'll be a dismal failure. See, this is the bad thing about having 2 1/2 servers full of characters--there's just too much to do! I want these pets on all my characters!! I still haven't made a tauren pally yet, or my dwarf shaman, or my undead hunter. My lvl 74 gnome priestess is super fun to play. There is nothing like hiding in the bushes and healing everyone--nobody even sees me! And gnome racials are more useful than the draenei. I always forgot I had that extra heal.
In all actuality, I haven't had very much time at all to play, except for late at night. I've been in the kitchen cooking all week, and cleaning, for Thanksgiving, then a huge birthday party yesterday and now ANOTHER family thing tonight--a taco feast--oh and don't forget the Christmas parade in our little town that starts in 7 minutes that my daughter is in with the school's marching band. I'm outta here.

Just got my second 80! I've been grinding away for honor points because I love healing bgs. And I made a NE Priest because I wanted to check out the new quests and I don't have a nightelf. Holy crap, the Westfall questline is AMAZING.
Just waitin' to make my Worgen druid! 3rd in my quest to have every healing class. :3
Meesh Nov 27th 2010 7:27PM
Rolled a Troll Druid. Been spending the past couple of days doing nothing but leveling her.
I'm in love with the cat form, it's BAD.ASS.
Steph Nov 27th 2010 8:45PM
I found the joy ride achievement.
Yesturday afternoon I must have spent an hour going back and forth.
Yangli Nov 27th 2010 9:38PM
Tauren Paladin and Troll Druid (though the Pally gets more attention).
I'm itching to play a Dwarf Shaman as well, but as I'm also planning a Goblin Warrior, I'm saving the Shaman for later. (Like, when the first raid tier has become stale and the other alts are 60+.)
Norvilion Nov 27th 2010 11:18PM
Surprised no one has mentioned Tauren priest, I mean comeon- hulking bull shrouded in purple smoke and shadows, cripling its foe just by muttering at it, what's not to love?
Dragoniel Nov 28th 2010 2:33AM
waitwat...
...nobody is playing Fallout: New vegas?
Raven Nov 28th 2010 2:39AM
