My big question here though, is -how long between Wrath and this?- Obviously the regrowth of Desolace and other places didn't happen over night, there's indications that the world was advancing along (WPL and EPL) and then suddenly bamf, Deathwing, and we're dealing with the sudden affects of that. I've heard everything from 'a few months' to 'five years', what's right? Also, where exactly did Deathwing pop up out of the ground?

Well, Desolace and other areas could have been growing since Vanilla, or maybe since BC. That gives them about three or so years, which is still a fairly short time for massive trees to grow, but that was because of druids.Deathwing popped straight out of the Maelstrom, since it was a weakened area of the world to begin with. Not to mention the massive amounts of magic in the area.
