The only thing I'll contest here is the idea that Garrosh was winning that duel. They were about evenly matched in-game, and from what I've been told, in the comic version of that event, Thrall was basically holding Garrosh off with one hand and scolding him (though I didn't read it myself).Otherwise -- beautiful piece. Can't wait to see how my beloved Warchief grows...

In game, Thrall was doing the whole 'I lost the duel' animation when they called out that the Valley of Honor was undergoing an incredibly localised attack. So I guess he was meant to be losing at that point and it all got lost in the kerfuffle.

I had heard that the duel ended differently on different servers... I don't know if it is true or not, but I strongly doubt that Thrall was giving it his all in the fight... seeing all the cool stuff he pulled off in the Battle for the Undercity, I don't see how 1 Orc with an axe can compete with the greatest Shaman alive.

This is what I gathered as well, that the fight in-game panned out a little differently each time. Sometimes it was dead even, sometimes Thrall was winning, sometime Garrosh was winning.

Thrall: elemental shaman casting healing wave on himself a lotGarrosh: Arms warrior. This is in BC. Thrall never stood a chance in the arena.

Garrosh is a Fury Warrior, Angus. And anyone who's read the comics would deduce that Thrall was holding back. I think that Mak'goras forbid magic, so Thrall was fighting Garrosh in pure hand-to-hand (despite Thrall using magic in-game). In the comic, Thrall fought Garrosh without magic up until the moment Saurfang reported that the Lich King was attacking, at which point Thrall blasted Garrosh back on his ass with lightning, immediately prior to one-shotting a necropolis.

The in-game duel between Garrosh and Thrall would end whenever either of them reached 30% health, I believe. Sometimes Thrall was winning at the time, sometimes Garrosh. It depended entirely on when they randomly cast their spells. Sometimes Thrall would start spamming lightning bolts while Garrosh whiffed a Whirlwind at the other end of the arena. Sometimes Thrall would end up getting stuck melee attacking while being pummeled by the Whirlwind. In the comic, it's clear that Thrall provoked Garrosh intentionally in order to put him in his place, and Thrall was easily winning the duel when the invasion began.

Taking in-game clunky animation as canon over the comics is full of fail.Thrall was owning Garrosh with just one hand in the comics, that's enough for me, and it should be enough for anyone lore-friendly.Saying Garrosh was winning that silly duel is like making a chuck norris joke in a RP channel.
