For those of you not able to snag a
collector's edition of
Cataclysm or who've put off the purchase, Amazon now has collector's editions
in stock. In addition, the explicit option for release day delivery exists, if you pre-order now with the option selected. Your shipping cost may vary, but when I plugged in my information, delivery only cost $0.99. Jump on this now, before it all goes the way of Old Azeroth.

Awesome. Had a preorder in, but went with the free shipping over release date. Worth a $.99 upgrade!

Same here - preordered from Amazon back in August, and at that time chose the one-day shipping option. Amazon pegged the delivery date as December 9th, and when I wrote to see if it could be changed, they responded that my only recourse would be to cancel the existing order and re-order. Of course, I politely declined because the Cata Collectors Edition had long been 'out of stock.'
Thanks to this timely post by Mr. McCurley, I just ordered it again with free release-date shipping (I'm an Amazon Prime member) and cancelled my old order. Ended up saving $4.00 on shipping and will get the CE two days earlier than I expected! :)

Amazon have been emailing me for weeks saying they WILL NOT be able to deliver my preorder of Cataclysm on the release date. Don't be fooled, or just expect to wait till after everyone else gets their copy.
BB Crisp Nov 30th 2010 6:36PM
@MrLee
That's odd, seeing as I've had my copy pre-ordered with release day delivery and haven't received a single notice that there's going to be a problem. Maybe you're just in a remote location or something that limits their ability to get you the game on time, but they're not going to outright lie to thousands of people on their site by charging for release day delivery if they don't think they can actually pull it off.

Just a note regarding orders already placed:
I had already pre-ordered Cata and Amazon let me update my shipping method to release-date delivery for my two copies (one collector's edition, one regular). I didn't have to delete them and re-order them, I could just update the delivery date via the 'change shipping speed' option on my open orders page.
Thanks, Wow Insider. I wouldn't have known I could update w/o this post.

I had a different experience...preordered from Amazon back in August, and at that time chose the one-day shipping option. Amazon pegged the delivery date as December 9th, and for some reason I could not change the shipping speed on the order page.
When I wrote to see if it could be changed behind the scenes, they responded that my only recourse would be to cancel the existing order and re-order. Of course, I politely declined because the Cata Collectors Edition had long been 'out of stock.'

Damn - double post. Please downrate the second one.
alanamiko Nov 29th 2010 5:09PM
Hey that option wasn't available when I pre-ordered from them! But now it is...and it's even free for Amazon Prime members. Yay!
Dixonij Nov 30th 2010 3:18AM
I somehow can't get the "Change Shipping Speed" page to even show on my Amazon Prime account...
Saeadame Nov 29th 2010 5:13PM
So they just got more in stock, yus? If I already ordered from them it's still coming.
Mir Nov 29th 2010 5:17PM
Release data shipping only available for the continental US.
I hate you guys so very, very much right now:(
Uriah Nov 29th 2010 5:17PM
Can't beat instore midnight openings imho
Magma Nov 29th 2010 6:03PM
This would be true if all retail stores weren't long since sold out :P
wutsconflag Nov 29th 2010 6:18PM
Can't beat digital purchases. Saves even the time going to a local store. :P
Not that I expect to be able to log in and play for the first day, anyway, so really the point is moot.
Erzfiend Nov 29th 2010 5:21PM
Sweet, just upgraded my order.
And here I had resigned to not being able to experience the expansion until two days after.
thebl4ckd0g Nov 29th 2010 5:21PM
I was able to change my collector's edition pre-order to release-date delivery no problem. :)
theeternalsacred Nov 29th 2010 5:21PM
I would buy from amazon, but i am boycotting them. They put up a book from a child rapist that told how to rape a child and they left it up for over a week even under repeated attacks from worried citizens. Amazon is a money hungry company and if they can't even pay attention to something as serious as a book on how to rape children then they dont deserve money.
Ben Smith Nov 29th 2010 5:25PM
Cool story, bro.
Superthrust Nov 29th 2010 5:48PM
@OP - Sorry but you're a sheep. It wasn't how to rape children. It was how to live with the fact that some people may have pedophilia feelings or that they exist around you. I know what the media has reported and what the over reactors have said.
Cool your jets. Its 2010. You're bound to see some things you don't agree with or things that are unsettling to you.

Mir Nov 29th 2010 6:58PM
Superthrust: Calling someone you don't agree with a sheep (or even worse sheeple)automatically makes you a douche. Secondly, you proabably aren't thinking of the same book he is. There was one that specifically advertised luring methods and avoiding law enforcement. It was literally a step by step how to be a pedo guide. I'm not taking that from any news report, but from the actual book advertisement itself.
