I had a different experience...preordered from Amazon back in August, and at that time chose the one-day shipping option. Amazon pegged the delivery date as December 9th, and for some reason I could not change the shipping speed on the order page.

When I wrote to see if it could be changed behind the scenes, they responded that my only recourse would be to cancel the existing order and re-order. Of course, I politely declined because the Cata Collectors Edition had long been 'out of stock.'

Thanks to this timely post by Mr. McCurley, I just ordered it again with free release-date shipping (I'm an Amazon Prime member) and cancelled my old order. Ended up saving $4.00 on shipping and will get the CE two days earlier than I expected! :)
