The Queue: Live show Friday!

This Friday at 1 p.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Pacific, we'll be doing a live episode of The WoW Insider Show! Yours truly will be joined by Matthew Rossi and Anne Stickney to bring in Cataclysm with style, pizazz and fun. We'll take Cataclysm questions, lore discussions, gameplay stuff, zone previews ... and even some special surprises may be in store. Don't miss us jabbering on about Cataclysm this Friday! There will be a more detailed post up soon, but I just wanted to let all the fans know early, since I love you so much.
No, really, I do.
jasondrust asked:
What's the deal with the lack of anniversary pet and any cool item at all from the world event of Cataclysm, like a tabard or ghost pet that follows us around saying, "I WAS THERE MAN. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW".
This year isn't so much a milestone as the fifth year anniversary, so I guess Blizzard just didn't feel like putting something in -- kind of like how we got the 2009 Brewfest stein again for 2010. As for cool item from the Cataclysm pre-events, I guess you could count the Echo Isles and Gnomeregan items that turn you into a troll or a gnome, respectively.
Hal asked:
It seems as though the Alliance has lost a lot of ground to the undead. Have they made any comparable gains anywhere else?
It seems like the Alliance has lost more ground to their enemies because they did. The original World of Warcraft had a heavy emphasis on Alliance zones, with little to no Horde presence. Cataclysm attempted to shift the balance back to a 50/50 split, and in doing so, a lot of what the Alliance considered "safe" territory was thrown into conflict.
However, the biggest loss to the Horde this expansion has been, as people noted, the Southern Barrens. This area was ripe for new possibilities and changes, and it turned out to be one of the best revamped zones after The Shattering because of the conflict created. It is definitely well done.
Drew asked:
Does anyone know if Deathwing is burning zones yet?
He certainly is.
Hal also asked:
It seems the city tabards don't count towards the 25-tabard achievement. Is this a bug or intentional?
Don't forget, the achievement actually states that you have to equip 25 tabards, so don't forget to try each one on and watch that achievement counter fly. Also, if you used the previous Argent Tournament versions of the tabards towards the achievement, they will not work, as they are the same items.
Maccabeus asked:
A while back, a question was posed about whether the community at large would be able to obtain the "Aka'Magosh" shirts from BlizzCon. After seeing the red one, I have decided: DO WANT. BAD.
Sooo...will they be available?
Aka'magosh shirts are in the works, actually. We should have an update soon!
Batkat asked:
Is it just me, or do the Goblin Trikes come off as unfinished? I just got mine, and I've noticed they don't make much sound except for when you summon them or they drop a distance. The jump of the trike is also rather inanimate. Otherwise, they are rather fun to zoom around in, just a little disappointing when they run so quiet.
You aren't the only one. For some reason, the trikes have no real jump animation like the Mechano-hog and feel very static. I have no idea why. But yes, the sentiment is not just your own -- they feel a little unfinished.
Nat asked:
What happened to Mannoroth's armor? Is it still on display somewhere?
It sure is.

'the additional things said that were unreasonable, disrespectful, insulting, or just plain dumb'
Such as?
I suggested they were either being lazy or not prioritising this sort of content prior to cataclysm. I then responded to someone else to say I understood the latter, but implied that the failure to change the date was still fairly slack - a comment which appears to have been voted up, as it happens. I then joked about giving Blizzard a moose...
Unless I've forgotten a comment in which I start f-ing, blinding and cursing Blizzard's mothers, I'm tempted to adapt Saeadame's argument and ask what exactly it would be permissable for me to say?
Lemons Nov 30th 2010 5:18PM
@Josin
Does my Cataclysm preorder count? :P
If not then all I got them was this macaroni art of me and GC riding a moose in space.
Dr. Knox Nov 30th 2010 1:17PM
Is it me or did the Goblins watch "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" a few too many times?
Matthew Nov 30th 2010 2:00PM
What an awesome observation. Mind if I use that for an arena team or vanity guild?
Dr. Knox Nov 30th 2010 5:48PM
Hit it up, Matt.
themightysven Nov 30th 2010 6:28PM
@Matthew you might want to take that up with the estate of Ian Fleming instead of asking some random person

I've noticed with the new cooking dailies that there appear to be a limit of 10 tokens that you can collect. Is that a bug. Have anyone got more than 10 at a time?
Knob Nov 30th 2010 1:35PM
Considering the patch has been out for 7 days, I'd say it'd be a miracle if anyone had 10 tokens.
Croe Nov 30th 2010 1:45PM
Well, there was the PTR realms, and some quests, if I remember correctly, award 2 tokens instead of 1.
Tinwhisker Nov 30th 2010 2:05PM
The reason is two-fold. First off it forces you to spend them. Secondly it prevents you from gathering hundreds now and hording them from patch to patch (and maybe expansion to expansion). That way they can continue to use the same currency for the rest of the game's life very similar to the new honor/justice points.
Kenmoe Nov 30th 2010 5:52PM
I didn't notice the x/10 until I read this, thanks! I would have hated to waste the awards.

How are high level crafting recipes going to be obtained in Cata?
I mean, in Wrath there were three ways (excluding mob drops, that's not what I'm talking about):
- purchased using gold from trainer (eg. for engineering, blacksmithing)
- purchased using mats (eg. enchanting (dreamshards) and leatherworking (borean leather and arctic fur))
- purchased using tokens from profession daily quest (eg. jewelcrafting, cooking)
So has Bliz settled on one of these for Cata? Or will we still see a mix of methods?
John Nov 30th 2010 1:36PM
There's all those methods and one more:
- scribes will make recipes/patterns out of "burned fragments" that drop in dungeons
A sop to the scribes out there whose revenue streams were reduced so much in 4.0.
jonas Nov 30th 2010 2:55PM
revenue stream decreased? I've made close to 100k on my scribe since 4.0.1 and I'm not even being aggressive about my crafting. Sure, it'll die down as the alts get put away, but that's months away.
gamerunknown Nov 30th 2010 9:52PM
Imagine if you could take gems out of your gear and replace them with a chisel. People would buy one of each gem that would potentially benefit them given their specs, JCs would be happy for a while, then they'd be ruined.
The same crash will happen for the glyph market.
Zack Miller Nov 30th 2010 1:25PM
Is leveling resto as a druid(or shammy) going to finally be a viable option in Cata?
Key Nov 30th 2010 1:48PM
It was a viable option as soon as the Dungeon Finder came out.
Zack Miller Nov 30th 2010 2:20PM
I plan on doing plenty of dungeons. But I also plan on doing a ton of questing. I remember barely being able to do dailies in tbc.
Hangk Nov 30th 2010 2:44PM
Resto/healy offensive power for all classes has been boosted significantly since the days of TBC, especially for druids since Cata given that you no longer have switch in and out of "healmode" aka Treeform. You won't do competitive DPS with a DPS class but you should be able to solo quest just fine.
Saeadame Nov 30th 2010 3:28PM
Personally, I'll say that I leveled 1-80 resto pre-LFD, and it kind of sucked. Certainly, I could kill almost any mob that I came across, because those mobs were unable to kill me because of my heals, but it took a long... long... long time to kill anything. You know how mages can kill most mobs in 2-3 casts? Yeah. Wrathing things. 10 times or more depending how much higher level the mob was. Blargh. I lucked out a little since WotLK came out just when I hit 60, so I got to heal Hellfire Ramparts about 50 zillion times with 4 DK+1druid groups, and people were ALWAYS looking for a healer, so it was the equivalent of an "instant queue" only I could just sit by the portal and get invited.
All together, it took me almost 2 years to hit 80, mostly through a gathering quests and dungeons, although my play schedule was a little irregular as well. Now that you can bet on dungeon leveling being faster or as fast as questing, it should be much easier.
