Isn't this patch day? And 1 week before cata? I thought Wow.com would be chock full of Cata stuff today.
Does wow.com have anything interesting to report to us about this
patch day? Are there any other pre-cata events happening? Or was
that it?
I hope not because the pre-events so far have been pretty weak.

Nope.
The download you got was to fix a few things, and fix some missing models. The data you downloaded had you had downloaded before, so Blizzard doesn't consider this a new patch.

Patch day? Is there a time zone that's a week behind or something?

Um..... You might want to poke around the site, or even log in to your game client.

Are you talking about the 150mb hotfix patch that went on yesterday?

I thought every Tuesday was 'patch day'. And no, I cannot log into my game client at the moment. That's why I asked at Wow.com who happens to be the foremost authority on WoW. I am told. And I have poled around the site for today's postings and I must have missed the big announcement that DW was burning up everything.
Glad to hear something is happening from a commenter on a Wow site.

The big, Pre-Cataclysm patch was last week. Deathwing began burning everthing then. That's why you don't see any new posts about the goings-on... nothing new has started between this week and last.

Apparently I've missed the 100-foot flying, flaming, armored lizard then. I played almost all day on Sunday and a few hours yesterday. Nothing but blue skies and seagulls when I look up.

He doesn't burn every zone, all the time. He appears randomly and scorches a zone, then moves on. He's a busy Aspect of Death.

Bynde, there are approx 50 zones in Kalimdor/Eastern kingdoms that Deathwing can potentially burn'inante. Assuming he strikes once every - say - 3 hours in one zone (which fro all accounts is over fairly quickly), there's not a huge chance you'll see him in any given play session.
He will however, be burnin' shit up for quite some time, so you'll get your chance.
It won't happen overnight, but it will happen.

Thank you Rufio. You're the only one that actually explained wth is going on. Too bad the intertubes don't have a website devoted to World of Warcraft concerns ...wait...what?
I hope the DW ravages are worth it to see, because so far the Pre-cata events have been pretty Lame-o McLamester.

Seems like there's some miscommunication here. There was no major patch today, just a small fix. Not every Tuesday is "patch day", though there's some sort of server maintenance on most Tuesdays, though that doesn't mean there's a patch. The big patch where Azeroth got Shattered happened last Tuesday. Since then, Deathwing has been burning one zone in the game every few hours or so. If you haven't been seeing the new Azeroth this past week and are only getting the big patch now, I'm not sure why that is. Are you on a private server of some sort?

Bynde, how do you think people like Rufio were able to help you out. We read it already, here on the site a while ago. Just because you were behind the times doesn't mean that Wow Insider is, get off your high horse.

Prissa I asked a question on a site that typically encourages questions. That's all. Perhaps you don't know what the meaning of "being on a high horse" really means.

...The Shattering.
The complete restructuring of the entire world of Azeroth.
Is "Lame-o McLamester"?
You need to lower your standards a bit, I think.

Not to mention the fact that Orgrimmar only spent a week burning to the ground, and that Deathwing left a note in Stormwind to say he'd visited while we were out.

Yeah, maybe your first post was simply a question. Perfectly valid. It's not your fault that you didn't know, so you asked. Though consequently you didn't like the replies and came back with comments like "Too bad the intertubes don't have a website devoted to World of Warcraft concerns ...wait...what?" instead of simply saying thanks for the info. That is what I would call being on your high horse, determined not to be in the wrong.

Well, Prissa, if that's your interpretation of it, I can't change that.
But, that still isn't what being on a "high horse" means.
Incidentally, I insulted no one. You did.
