The Classifieds: A new meeting spot for guild relations

With the recent upgrade to the Blizzard and WoW community site, it looks like the old Guild Relations forum didn't make the transfer. While the Guild Relations forum didn't get a lot of press, it was a decent place to chat with other guild leaders and find a little help for troubling issues.
A few folks have begun archiving the old Guild Relations forums off site at wowguildrelations.com. It's entirely a community effort, and it will be interesting see if it turns out. Drop by the site and see if what they're doing is interesting to you.
Random Acts of Uberness
It's when another player lights up your night with precise play, a wicked sense of humor or unexpected generosity that your login becomes something to remember. Share your Random Acts of Uberness with theclassifieds@wow.com. Keep things brief (150 words or less, please), and be sure to list everyone's character names and home realms or battlegroup.Firesong of <Crimson Knights> on Mok'Nathal (US-A) spent the first 5 hours on the first day of the patch standing in Dalaran in the old portal chamber keeping up portals and inviting anyone who needed a port, for free. -- Jeluv
Employment: Guild recruitment
If you've not already started advertising for Cataclysm raiders, now's a great time to put out your message. After all, the release is only about a month away, and when the expansion officially hits the servers, we're all going to be very, very busy. Send in your guild name, realm, a link to your guild website or armory listing and a sentence or two on your guild's focus (10-man, RP, late-night raiding, whatever) to theclassifieds@wow.com.
10-man raiding <The Wild Hunt> of Doomhammer (EU-A) is a dedicated 10-man raiding guild consisting mainly of veteran WoW players in search of an unburdened yet progression-focused and intensive raiding experience. Raiding only twice a week, we expect a reasonably high level of skill from our members, trying to adhere to "quality over quantity" raiding.
Alts need apply <Cursed Souls> of Tichondrius (US-H) is a small guild of altoholics, achievement fools, lore nerds, PvP crazies, and casual raiders looking to expand for Cataclysm. We're looking to expand into 10-man raiding and 5-man group play on a fairly regular but casual basis. Visit our website to check out our code of conduct and to apply for membership.
Business as different <Business Casual> is looking for players who don't think they have time to raid but would still like to see what this game has to offer. We'll be doing new and old content, one night per week, 2 hours max. Raid extensions will be used to complete raids. Don't expect to see too much current-tier content.
Hardcore late night <Dogwatch> of Kilrogg (EU-H) is aiming to rebuild our core raiding team for Cataclysm. <Dogwatch> is a serious raiding guild aiming to clear all 25-man Cataclysm content. Year-old content hit our raid team hard, on top of recovering from summer slack. <Dogwatch> has bounced back before, and we will to bounce back again and excel in the upcoming expansion.
Lives away from game <Requiem of Blood> of Turalyon (US-H) is recruiting mature and dedicated players to join us for Cataclysm raid content. We are a 10-man raid guild that broke away from a larger guild. We are looking for people who want to progress but have lives away from the game. We raid three nights a week for three hours each night. Currently looking for a couple of healers, a ranged DPS, and a death knight.
New hotness <Fallen Legion> is a brand new guild forming on Daggerspine (US-H) for weekend raiding. We're looking for people who are busy during the week but have the strong desire to perform and are tired of dealing with random PUGs and weaker raids. For more information or to apply, visit our web site or whisper Xanddra in game.

Note: Guild ad for "Business Casual" doesn't identify a realm.

Just look into the GM own profile, then you can see where they are from.... so it seems to be winterhoof
D4 Dec 1st 2010 5:49PM
If you follow the given link, it identifies it as being on Winterhoof (US?-H), but that'd be better shown in the text.

Indeed, we are Winterhoof (US-H).

Five out of the six guilds listed in guild recruitment are horde. Is that from a lack of advertising from alliance guilds or just a strong bias in action? Either way, it's a sad statement of some kind.
Oh, and the only alliance guild listed is on a EU server? Wow.
loop_not_defined Dec 1st 2010 5:57PM
But what sad statement is it making? There's more Horde players than Alliance, or there's fewer Horde players than Alliance? Or does it only indicate a faction's ability to get people to work together? ...but still, in which way? Or maybe it is just bias?
For what it's worth, Armory Data Mining indicated 52% Alliance and 48% Horde players as of late August 2010. If people are looking for population explanations, they might want to look elsewhere.

That's why I said it was a sad statement "of some kind". I couldn't decide just what the sad statement was. I think it's that alliance guilds just don't take the initiative to advertise...except when they're spamming trade chat.
loop_not_defined Dec 1st 2010 5:58PM
Why did my guild ad get short-changed? This is proof WoW Insider hates Horde. :P
AudreyR Dec 1st 2010 6:27PM
So they're biased against the horde and alliance?
Now's the time to advertise my all-centaur guild!

Update from previous Random Act of Uberness: http://wow.joystiq.com/2010/11/17/the-classifieds-riders-of-gilead/
The Warsong Band, with the help of Beanies Moisture finally downed the Lich King...with 1 week and 3 days before the expansion. =)
We had given up until Raco rallied us against Dreamwalker, Putricide, and Princes...and then we were stuck at LK for about 4 weeks lol (Raco came out and helped us a lot during that fight too, as did some other RoO peeps). Haven given up on it again, we gave it one last try and after 13 or so wipes we done did it!
I had to jump in on an alt for dps (Moomkin), but EFF it. KINGSLAYER 11/28/2010

Guilds looking for raiders never post the most important info, raid times.

Thanks for the plug for the Guild Relations Forum! We're still getting set up but hope to continue the good work we've long been known for. We hope Blizzard will see the error in removing the GRF from their current forum lineup, but if they don't, we'll continue on at the new site :)
