This sort of hostility is the only reason there are so few tanks. Grow up, make a tank and do it better. Really.
A major part of tanking disappointment derives from the fact that 4 people in the party expect 4 different kinds of tanking. The only thing they agree on is that they are entitled to a free-ride with a tank that outgears the place. For each one that expects a zerg-machine, another expects time to pick loot from every mob and cute joke now and then.
Of course imposters must be put off immediatly. The tank is just another player. And one that willingly accepted a pivotal role. However keep in mind that more often than not, you'll be queued with people no better than you, some of which are just learning the ropes.
