The Queue: We didn't start the fire
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky, senior editor at WoW Insider, will be your host today.
This is a really cute video put together. It's not Grade A machinima in terms of video production quality, but the concept behind it is up there with Blind in its "hey sweet, this is WoW!" quality ... At least in my opinion.
Five days here, folks, then the big event. Let's answer some of your questions.
Furry asked:
Will the limit to number of justice points go up at all as we level or when we hit 85, or will it always be capped at 4,000?
It was capped at 4,000 when I was level 85 in the beta. It's likely the cap will remain. But that shouldn't be a problem, in so much as you can still get the gear you want. You just won't be able to stockpile tons of justice points.
Wreck asked:
How is water combat changing in Cataclysm? After the 10,000th time taking a portal on Dreamwalker last night, the thought occurred to me that I don't want to level in Vashj'ir unless changes are coming.
Water combat feels just like normal combat but with a vertical dimension added in. Vashj'ir isn't bad at all, it's actually a really fun and compelling zone to play through. It'll be the first zone I do in Cataclysm as well, given that I'm expecting everyone to run to Mount Hyjal.
You also get an underwater mount early on, and that provides a lot of utility throughout the zone. It's really an amazing zone, and Blizzard has done an above average job at it. It's like your playing through Echo the Dolphin on WoW, and that's just fracken awesome.
Psychoraven asked:
Will worgen death knights and higher-level characters who race change to worgen be able to learn the Running Wild ability?
Yes.
Szilgyi asked:
Has Blizzard announced if it will change tabards from counting as a normal inventory slot?
For right now, tabards are still taking up an inventory slot. Blizzard has said that it eventually wants to move them to a keyring-based holder, but that's likely not going to happen for a bit.

So what exactly happens at 12am on the 7th....can we be online when they flip the switch, are the servers down for 5 min before? Assuming we have the expansion is it as simple as logging out then back in and poof, Cata is ready?

With the Worgen getting Running Wild instead of mounts, are the rest of the Alliance races getting additional mounts to help with Mountain o' Mounts achievement etc.?
M.Arnold84 Dec 3rd 2010 3:18AM
If I was to purchase a race change now and leave it untouched but carried on playing my character, would the race change option still be there come Cataclysm or do you have to change your race in a certain timezone.
Magus Dec 3rd 2010 1:11PM
I've been hearing that there were some issues with that and that you're better off paying for it after the release. Can't recall the blue post on it though.
The issue being that you can change to the race/class combos available with the Shattering (Tauren Paladin, Gnome Priest, etc...) but not to goblins/worgen.

Not to mention that they're probably going to be flooded with requests, so you may be locked out for a few days while they catch up.

Greetings.
Is there any possibility that Blizzard would fix the way the mob's health bars displays, with all that dancing and moving?

Dear Mr. Queue,
Longtime listener, first time caller ... So, my co-workers and other RL friends all paid for a racial swap from Alliance (yay!) to Horde (boo! hiss!) months ago because of what they claim to be lopsided PvP in our Battle Group ... also, because they know I'm a skin flint and love seeing me miserable ... (and broke) ...
Any who ... having played a wee bit of the Goblin / lowbie Horde content in beta, I've finally decided to make the switch this tuesday and see how the other half lives ... (crippling in-game loneliness may or may not also be a factor). But before I bid a fond farewell to Ironforge and Alliance side trade chat trolling forever, I want to ask ... are there any New Cat quest hubs I should knock out before I go ?
I already had a blast & a half playing around in Westfall. The same goes for Darkshore. I guess what I'm trying to say here is ... I don't want to have regrets ... I don't want to always look back and wonder ... "What if ..."
Hopefully you can help me out before I make the biggest mistake of my life ... in game ...
Enjoy your day,
- Tentative on Tichondrius

1) You do know that you can create new characters, right? Reports have people leveling up alts from 1 to 65 in just a few days. 80 would be just a few days more. Bind on Account Heirloom items can be mailed cross-faction.
2) Wait another 4 days and you can simply start a goblin (since you say you want to go Horde). You will have LOTS of company there.
3) Real ID and Conversations means you can still talk to your friends, even though they have turned to the Dark Side. Meet them. Melt their faces off.

So if everyone is starting at the same time at Midnight Pacific "when the servers come up" then when will the servers be going down? At what point do we want to be sure to be completely ready? Any word on what time? All day Monday? An hour before?
RG Dec 3rd 2010 9:13AM
Other than tabards that grant special abilities or ones that look
cool, why would I want to keep them around? Even the ones that grant
rep for dungeon runs are useless after becoming exalted.

Question for the queue here!
My question is, if Deathwing landed on Stormwind's front door, as he apparently did in the trailer and the loading screen, why is Stormwind, you know, still standing? Considering everything else that happened in Azeroth, how could his appearance in the Alliance capital NOT cause more devastation than claw marks in the ramparts? Did someone show up to drive him off?
Suspected answer: Deathwing ain't all that.
Magus Dec 3rd 2010 1:20PM
Barrens guard towers were made of straw.
Auberdine was made of sticks.
Stormwind is made of bricks.
Deathwing is the Big Bad Wolf.
Karazhan was merely a setback!

... and I bet you never wondered how Tokyo was always there for the next Godzilla movie...
On the other hand, considering how long it took to repair the inn at Sentinel Hill in Westfall (3 expansions), you might have a point.
Kats Dec 3rd 2010 12:33PM
To discover a dungeon, do you have to go in the dungeon? I want to discover the starting level 80 dungeons immediately when Cataclysm is out. How do I get to them and what do I have to do to discovery them?
Jacob.Kuntzman Dec 3rd 2010 2:13PM
I keep seeing and hearing that Hyjal and Vashj'ir will be level 80-82 zones. Is this right? Is Blizzard breaking from their previous pattern of offering the new batch of content to those two levels under? Outland at 58, Northrend at 68... So are the quests in Hyjal and Vashj'ir not offered at 78?
Jorn86 Dec 3rd 2010 4:38PM
"... given that I'm expecting everyone to run to Mount Hyjal."
What do you base that on? I've actually heard more positive things about Vash'ir, and I'm looking forward to questing there. Can't say the same about Hyjal.
Baldagrim Dec 5th 2010 11:16PM
It makes sense about the new Tabard system. They changed the Pet System, then the Mount System, now Tabards should be next.
