Is the daily cooking quest actually good for anything? I've done it with several alts
all I've seen is vendor trash worth maybe 50 copper. Apart from raising the skill level, it seems to have little point if you're maxed level. It seems a lot of work for little gain.
Has anyone found anything good in those bags?

I assume you mean daily fishing and not daily cooking? I think for now it's using the WotLK loot-table. Hopefully it'll change to the Cataclysm loot-table after the 7th.

well, if you buy the crate of meat, you can get cata-level meats that on my server are selling for 35g each to people who want to insta-level their cooking on tues.

I take it you mean the fishing daily? Looking at WoWHead's loot list for the reward bags, there really isn't anything worth anything outside the occasional potion as well as the fishing hat and minipet you could get from the Dal fishing daily. Which sorta makes sense given that it'd be pretty daft to give the chance to 'win' big sums of gold from a quest you can start taking at level 10, but kinda kills the incentive to do them after max skill for a high-level character..

The cooking quest rewards a chef's award that lets you buy cata recipies.
The fishing quest rewards a Bag of Shiny Things which has a chance to drop the weather-beaten fishing hat hat and the strand crawler pet.

I assume you meant fishing.
Yeah its totally random. At first day I got http://www.wowhead.com/item=57191 from the bag and sold it for 50g on AH. Either it got hotfixed or it was totally random since I've since got only low level stuff. But it seems to scale.. maybe I just got 81+ loot from it so it is possible it scales with level after we get to 81+.

RE: the Stormwind/Orgrimmar Fishing Dailies...
I wouldnt expect them to award anything that special - you're fishing low-level areas for low-level stuff. The one or two skill points are the only real draw here.
Anyone know if there's an achievement for doing all of them? I know that there's one for cooking.
It would be nice if the reward scaled to your level, but i think i heard that there would be a daily hub in one of the new high-level cata zones, so that may be where we get our upper-level fishin fix.

I did this as my first fishing daily on my Shammy and it took 97 fish to catch one fish in Valley of Heores that had some shinies in its gut that the NPC wanted. Although when I turned it in i got http://www.wowhead.com/item=44983 which made all the guildie fisherman quite jealous lol. Beginners luck!

Sorry, yes I did mean the fishing daily! (I was doing the cooking one at the time I wrote this.)
Apart from fishing items that were in previous dailies, has anyone found anything new?

It's funny that so many people here are posting what "you meant."
Get out more, people. There's a whole new quest in Stormwind! ZOMG!
All I can say about the cooking daily is that it gives a TON of XP if you do it while you're leveling. My level 39 toon got almost 4000 XP just for running around town getting the bags of flour. Though, my cooking skill isn't high enough to use any of those recipes you can buy with the chef's tokens so I didn't look at any of them just yet.

Yo Scott (screw that @ stuff. I'm talking to you, not at you).
http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=5476/fish-or-cut-bait
Got it on my main last night.
Also, there aren't any other fishing dailies in Tol Barad (that I know of). You'll be able to fish there, but there won't be any quests for fishing.

All I want is an Heirloom fishing hat. Would that be so hard?

Grovinofdarkhour said...
Seriously. A +25 Fishing hat, that grows with you, with or without other level-appropriate stats, that my dudes could mail around to each other as needed, and maybe reach in and pull out a tasty beverage now and then.
The more formed this idea becomes, the harder it is to stop thinking about.

And then let me drag it down to a bag slot, and it turns into a fishing bag, and I can put up to 16 stacks of fish and other stuff that I fished up in it, and then put it back on my head, so I'm wearing a hat that only I know is chock full of flopping fish. And beers.
Reaching too far? Yeah, probably.

It should be noted that with the cooking daily, you can only accumulate 10 of the chef rewards before you "cap" out on them. Henceforth, you should be spending them on recipes even if you can't learn them yet. :)

Flint, remember WoWHead's lists aren't completely updated until the quest has been run many, many times.
On day one, it listed one quest from Robby Flay. And only grey items out of the fishing bag. Now it shows normal items, and all 5 quests from Robby Flay.
