Though I obviously don't know how Blizzard's system specifically operates, I imagine the simplest solution would to be a tabards-only bag that doesn't take up one of your bag slots. It allows for all the flexibility players desire with their tabards, keeps them as part of your inventory, but doesn't take up "real" inventory space.

So yes, I'd want it to work like the keyring. Maybe call it the Coat Hanger.
