WoW Moviewatch: In My Moonkin Life
The video features Beebles taking a tour of Azeroth with his loyal companion. It's a great little video that's trying to help a great charity, so my hat's off to Beebles for the effort.

This was precious. I loved the father/mother moonkin dancing with the baby in all those scenes, and the hatchling in the dalaran fountain was soooo cute. And parent doing starfall while the hatchling did a mini cast was a great touch.
It actually brought a tear to my nerdy eye.
Awesome job! Only criticism (mild) is that you didn't find a Horde moonkin to /wave to. That would have been a nice scene - both moonkin hatchlings inspecting each other.

It's working. 0.0 It's so damn CUTE! xD *reaches for credit card*

It did work. I had made my mind on not buying any of the new pets. This video made me go and order one. Great work.

God what a fantastic song. Easily my favorite from the Beatles.
That said, the accompanying video was very cute and extremely persuasive.

Lovely video. I have to be honest I didn't know the hatchlings danced, I've just spent the last ten minutes having my bank alt dance with her hatchling. I'm hoping to get hatchling number two soon for my second account, my Moonkin druid is getting broody.

"It is not possible to receive the Horde version of the Moonkin Hatching on an Alliance character or vice versa."
...well, that takes all the fun out of it. The Gryphon Hatchling and Wind Rider Cub were available cross-faction, so why not this? I am a loyal Horde, but I like the Alliance mini-boomkin more...

My favorite moments:
* The "discovery" of the hatchling in Darkshore
* The meeting between the hatchling and the singing sunflower
My hatchling made a friend in Orgrimmar today. We were sitting in the Valley of Wisdom when a troll druid ran up and started fawning over him. I suggested that she dance with him, and when she discovered that he danced along, there were many squees of delight.
Donhorn Dec 4th 2010 7:35PM
That reminds me of me on the first day they went up. I was in Org and was looking all over for one, when I found one first thing I did was /dance with it. I had already made up my mind before to get one (just needed to get my money) but as soon as I saw that he did /dance with me I knew Blizz had custom designed the li'll guy for me. ^w^

^_^ That moonkin baby is soooooo adorable!
Where can I get one? :)
Lissanna Dec 4th 2010 6:48PM
they cost $10 from the Blizzard store.
Donhorn Dec 4th 2010 7:37PM
With $5 of it going to Make a Wish just like the Pandaren Monk last year.
Queenb Dec 4th 2010 5:57PM
this is by far the cutest vanity pet ever put into the game! I got mine today and am completely in love with the little booger :)
Donhorn Dec 4th 2010 7:41PM
I have searched high and low for pets (I have a good sized list of em all on WarcraftPets) and have yet to find THE pet for me. I play a Moonkin. He finally found his perma-pet.
Metdenn Dec 4th 2010 5:59PM
I applaud the intent... but really, wouldn't it be better for the charity to donate 100% of the amount directly to any charity?
It's one thing to say, 'if you buy one vanity item for yourself this holiday season, make it one that goes the extra mile', rather than say, 'hey, buy this so a charity gets some money.'
Saying this as a person who loves games and wastes too much money on them, but had to point out the obvious.
Micheal Dec 4th 2010 6:03PM
Yes, in a somewhat ideal charitable world you would be correct. People wouldn't worry about making a profit but instead would devote their time and effort to help other people.
Sadly, we don't live in an ideal world (come to think of it, in an ideal world nobody would need help in the first place) and profit is still the driving force behind most actions.
This is really the best middle ground that can be found. A big company devotes resources to create something and sells it to us while donating half the proceeds to a charity. It seems good to me. They could very easily have said "100% of the profits will go to us because we made this so it's ours, kids at christmas aren't our concern." And you know, I wouldn't fault a company for that... making money is why they exist.
Donhorn Dec 4th 2010 7:47PM
The big thing to keep in mind though is how many companies do something like this? And how many of them do something like this at the biggest spending time of the year? As far as I know only Blizz that I've seen. Yes, they are keeping 50%, but they are giving 50% from a brand new pet that came out just before Christmas AND continuing to give right through Christmas AAANNNNDDDD they made the pet irresistible. In the end the biggest winners are Make a Wish and every single player who knows that they are making a difference while playing games.

I'm glad someone said it. The "donation" angle is sort of a lipstick & the pig moment. Why Blizzard doesn't donate it all (all 100%), I don't know. Why is it only until Dec 31st that they donate 50%? Why doesn't the monk still give a donation? It's not like it's really costing Blizzard all that much per pet. Pay cost to develop, set a few bit flags, then profit.
How many people pay per month? How many of these pets have you seen in game? Divide total pet cash by total income and, well, I think you see my angle. I wonder if they'll donate more than Mountain Dew paid to get those Warbots in the game.
And how long until Apple Music makes Beebles remove the soundtrack? ;^)
rufwork Dec 5th 2010 1:15AM
Sorry to follow-up so quickly, but this link says (fwiw) that Blizzard donated $1.1 million last year with the monk.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/105717-World-of-Warcrafts-Charitable-Moonkin-Pet-Now-Available
At first that sounds great, right? Then you think that they grossed $1.1 mil on the pet. (Can you imagine how the programmer and graphic designer feels?) Then you wonder how much the celestial steed has grossed, since I see quite a few more of those and they're $25 a pop!
Wow. Is Blizzard publicly traded?
Tokkar Dec 5th 2010 2:11AM
@rufwork - go back and read the comments from the sale of the Pandaren pet. It's been covered. You're beating a dead horse.
Goatkiller Dec 5th 2010 3:28AM
Bah! Humbug!
