"Nobody should ever level fishing because of how tedious and ridiculous the process of getting to 450 is."

Apparently Mat and Basil have differing opinions about fishing.

Different editors for the two articles, maybe?

I can't believe someone actually said that. Fishing, because it can't be power leveled, is one of the less common maxed out professions in WoW. Because of that fact, high level fish go for a very nice profit on the AH and always have. I made a killing off fishing in Vanilla, made a killing off fishing in BC and Wrath, and I will make a killing off fishing in Cata.By the way, leveling fishing is stupid easy, now. Don't like fishing? Do the daily in Org, every day. At low levels, two points isn't all that handy, but 2 points a day for a quest that takes 5 minutes on average is really nice at high level fishing.

Just in case there are some people reading this who don't understand why people argue about leveling fishing, I'll spell it out here.Since several patches ago, you don't need fishing skill to fish in pools. In pools you will catch that pool's type of fish even if you have level 1 fishing skill. If you're fishing in open water (that is, not in pools), your skill comes into play. But for pools, your skill doesn't matter, you'll catch fish.So if you're fishing to supply your own food or to sell on the AH, you don't really need to level fishing. (Granted, leveling fishing might help a bit, but not that much. Open water fishing is somewhat inefficient compared to farming pools.) Leveling fishing is only for the achievement junkies and RPers really.

I always liked to level fishing. Northrend is great because any level 10 character can hop on a zeppelin or boat, camp out next to the fishing trainer, and enjoy the view and background music while fishing to max level. The junk vendors for cash - not a lot, but some stuff sells for 1 silver each - and actual fish can be put up on the auction house. The Alliance has a slightly easier time doing this, in that Valiance Keep and Valgarde both have reasonably safe water (don't aggro the sharks) and a fishing trainer right there. Low level Horde can only fish right outside of Vengeance Landing (at Warsong Hold, you can't really get to water without crossing through high-level, hostile mobs, and the closest water isn't safe anyway).
