Cataclysm launches in Europe, servers currently down [Updated]

How long will this downtime last? We're not sure, but we will do our very best to keep you updated on European server status. European players, if you have any tips or updates on your server's status, don't be afraid to contact us via our tip line. We love to hear from you!
Update: It appears the culprit is the login/authentication server. Once you beat the login boss, the game realms themselves seem to be running just fine.

This is true quite a few people are able to get it. There is a post on MMO-Champ that list around 20 realm with people that already have 525 Realm First Cooking Achievement lol.

That's because people found a way to sneak into the new zones and started stockpiling fish. By the time Blizz hotfixed it, it was pretty much too late.

You didn't need to exploit any fish to get 525 Cooking, you could stockpile enough meat by doing cooking dailies on loads of alts and spending the tokens on boxes of meat. I have enough meat on my main, but I spent my tokens on recipes unwisely, and that's going to stop me from getting 525 immediately. :-(

@Carson: People who "exploited" fish can get to max level faster, though. Of the 515 slate of recipes, the vast majority take fish as opposed to meat. Even stockpiling meat, unless you did it through multiple toons doing dailies, or got help from guildies and/or the AH, it would require some amount of luck to get all the way there, even taking multiple skillups into account. It all depends on how long those meat recipes stay green.
Given that, it'd be pretty naive to think at least some of those Realm Firsters didn't use any fish at all.

I am in the UK and it's just crazy, so many dissapointed people who were promised content from midnight. Shame on me for expecting this to run smoothly.

Promised content? Seriously? Come on man. At best you can't actually believe to play after an expansion without getting bounced like a ping pong ball. UK or here in the US I am fully expecting not to play much if at all when we can at 12am PST 12/7. Please don't take this as pessimism. I'm just prepared for that reality. Rule #1 nothing in WoW should ever be said to be promised. Except moose and sparkle ponies.
