Breakfast Topic: What are your resolutions for the expansion?

In the final days of old Azeroth, before the Shattering, my friends were chomping at the bit. They were farming the elemental bosses for JP, taking screenshots of Darkshore and Stormwind Park, and discussing names for their forthcoming gnome priests. Where was I, while all this was going on? Far out in the Bay of Storms in Azshara, fighting a giant "minnow" named Maws. Yes, that's right: in the final hours of Wrath, I was finishing the Blue Shard portion of the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest line. A little late? Yeah, you could say that. An eternal procrastinator, I started the entire chain with Only One May Rise exactly three days before the Shattering occurred.
As fellow Scepter-chasers will already realize, my efforts were truly epic -- and alas, all for naught. Though I was able to obtain the Blue and Green scepter shards after a mammoth three days of questing, farming, and running all over Azeroth, the Red scepter shard requires a second, fresh lockout of Blackwing Lair, and I did not have one. No Scepter for me. I don't regret doing the quest line, even if I didn't end up with the Feat of Strength; I'm a big quest nerd, and I loved experiencing the lore. I do, however, regret not starting earlier.
Therefore, in Cataclysm, I've made myself a promise: I will do every quest available to me, from Hillsbrad to Mount Hyjal, Darkshore to Deepholm. As I go through the lowbie zones on my Loremaster druid, I won't move on when I get the achievement; I'll complete everything available, just to see what happens.
Is there anything you were unable to finish before the Shattering? What are your resolutions for playing in a post-Cataclysm Azeroth?

The angry elitist nerds in front of us in line at Gamestop would like you not to see end-game content. "Blah blah blah things are too easy" etc. Guess when you buy a game with a guy on the front of the box, you shouldn't be expected to have a shot in h*ll at ever fighting that guy! =D

Amen to that. I'm very angry I missed the Ulduar era.
Toucan Dec 7th 2010 11:00AM
Notice how the elitist-nerds are still buying the game, though.
I guess the people in the marketing department of a 12 million subscriber game know what the right way to sell product to the masses is.

My resolution: stop pugging raids and find a decent guild!

Remember folks this game is designed to eat up as many hours of you day as it can. Blizzard simply is not going to make it super easy for you so stop complaining and just work for it. You cant blame a bunch of elite gamers who wet from vanilla to today for complaining about how easy things are. When you compare WotLK to previous expansions, WotLK is a friggin cake-walk.

@Scooter
I've been playing since November 26, 2004.
That being said, I never thought it was "too hard" or "too easy". I'm not the world's best player - my Rogue has ilevel 216ish gear and "only" pulls 3k DPS in heroics, which makes me fail - I guess I should pull 10,000 DPS in heroics and if I don't I just suck at the game.
That being said, I enjoy the game. Sure, I've only ever been to Ulduar and I only got half way through, and I'll probably never see the Deathwing raid, but I do enjoy the game. Doesn't make me an idiot, or a bad player - it just means I have other things going on than studying ElitistJerks' forums for hours on end to study rotations =)

@Scooter,
Yeah we can ask the elite gamers to stop moaning. It gets tiring to hear this tiny minority complain and complain and ruin the fun and furthermore imply that if others don't have the time or skill level they should not get to do what the elite does.
I go back to what I implied above. If the game is so easy and so terrible, stop buying the expacs and stop paying the monthly sub. Sitting around in the community expecting sympathy for what is long dead and gone is just silly.
The game is what it is, Polished, full of great story, easy to learn, hard to master, and overall accessible. Yes, it is on tight amusement park rails and yes with a community so big there are a lot of asshats. You just have to pick and choose how you play and who you play with and its hard to find a more rewarding community and game.
